This is interesting Lotus is releasing some upgrade options on MY2025 US cars . Wonder what the cost is for each tier>? The 2025 cars might be less expensive if you're going with Vivid Red with Standard wheels and Black leather.

Base Exterior Standard Color is Vivid Red, with tiered cost options for other colors
  • Select Paint – Osmium Silver, Hethel Yellow and Zinc Grey
  • Special Paint – Cosmos Black, Atlantis Blue, Mist White, Dark Verdant, Nimbus Grey, Meridian Blue and Shadow Grey
  • Exclusive Paint – Seneca Blue and Magma Red

Is their a technical reason for these tiers or is it just marketing/sales reasons?

Are some paints better in any way? Metallic flakes etc.?

Overall 2025 is a build your own FE. No new colors or options.

It's hard to decode the color tiers. It's not by popularity - most popular FE were Seneca blue, dark verdant, hethel yellow and they are all on 3 different price tiers. You would think that flat colors like vivid red, mist white, hethel yellow, zinc grey, etc would be cheapest and metallic flake, multi-color paints like dark verdant, nimbus, magma red would be most expensive. I can't figure out the logic other than signaling what they think premium colors should be,

For reference, Verde Ithaca and other bespoke paint jobs were an $8100 option on the Evora GT.

If I could choose any color, or paint to sample, I would pay it.

The cost of a true OEM/factory level custom paint job is just beyond what I’d ever be willing to pay. Plus, I trust virtually nobody to take the car apart and put it back together again correctly, which would be necessary to get a high level custom paint job. I doubt the car would ever feel as tight as it did before disassembly.

Completely agree! Plus Lotus actually used Lamborghini's paint for the bespoke jobs. It's super high quality.

But I have to say that paint job and the green highlights on the roof are just off the charts bonkers.

Thanks! Verde Ithaca was always my dream color for an exotic sports car. If my current GT never popped up for sale, I'd be in an Emira right now.

I drove my bright yellow Porsche around CT for three years with a European Delivery plate in front. I even went to Canada and back. I have four cars with no front plate and never had an issue. (Probably just jinxed myself). Not sure anybody cares unless you are pulled you over for something else.

I do put a front plate on my wife's car because I don't have a death wish.

One no cost base color does seem a litte strange, particulalry red. I also thoughth the tiers seemed a bit random. I'm still a bit ticked they didn't retire the FE1 colors. Seems like it would have been a low cost way to make the cars a little more special.

Enjoy your FE badging
