Goodwood - updates and info

Concerningly, speaking to Matt about car pics.... I asked him when we're getting DV pics; he pretty much straight up refused to publish them. His words were effectively "we're not, it's too hard to picture and show properly". I didn't really know how to respond. Or if he was serious...

Had to double check that it’s not April First. 😲

Copying what I just posted on the DV thread:

I got the same explanation from Matt about why the pictures had been repeatedly delayed and were now never likely to be published. I don't think it's fair to keep saying they'll be published, delaying, not publishing them and then say they are too hard to photograph. All the other colours have now been photographed many times by press and public, and Lotus missed the opportunity to create some decent images and publish them first.

There may be an opportunity to address this, with support from Lotus. I won't get people's hopes up, but it's under discussion following conversations at Goodwood yesterday.

If the paint is truely so dynamic that it’s difficult to capture the presence with static photos — there’s always video?

I know they’re familiar with that so called motion picture technology ;) they use it on the yellow Emira on their very own site.

Hi @TomE ,

Thanks again for everything! I have a small favour to ask if possible when you’re talking to the Lotus folks. First off I have no animosity to those in the UK who’ve got their cars coming later this summer and had opportunities to attend Lotus events and see the car in the flesh.

My question is I’m genuinely curious if they are aware of the customer experience in the Canadian market - I know some things are out of their control, but do they know how bad it is by comparison? I contacted Lotus and expressed interest to place a deposit on the Emira on July 8, 2021 - they got back to me about a week later and I immediately put down 5K. I gave an advance deposit on the Eletre as well pre-announcement and I think I may be #1 after dealer cars in Canada. And for that, I haven’t received a single update or communication - all I got was an e-mail around September 2021 with the price of the FE and to go on the configurator and prepare my spec and they would contact me ”very soon in the fall” (2021) to place my order. It’s been radio silent ever since. Do we even exist? It’s like we’re the unwanted guest at the dinner party who’s not offered anything to eat or drink in hopes that maybe well just leave lol. I want the two cars so badly but I‘m having serious second thoughts about red flags once/if I actually get the cars should there be any issues with either one for example. I know some ppl are upset about a 6-week delay, over here we’ve got nothing - it’s been 9 months since the last e-mail indicated an order call would be imminent and crickets ever since.

Thanks a million If it’s possible to ask about this.

Daniel

Here are some of the close up pictures I took. I’m sure they will not all be helpful but as we all have different queries that are quite specific, I added them all anyway. The standout and most relevant ones to my original post are the dodgy rubber on the window, the rubber in the bonnet gap - which I doubt you'd ever notice without someone pointing it out and the number plate bracket.

I'll also try and upload the exhaust vid I took in due course, for those interested in a close up through the rev range.

Why are some rotors drilled and some slotted and drilled? Seems like something else to add to the supplier issue list. 🤔

I'm not sure - I thought the seneca car was on diamond cut (silver edges, dark gunmetal inner surfaces), The nimbus wheels all look one colour, light gunmetal, which I assumed is the silver option? They are definitely different wheels.

Those are 100% the diamond cut wheels.

Earlier prototypes had drilled rotors only. The production ones will have drilled and slotted which I'm OK with as it will help keep the pads de-glazed and reduce squeal.

I really don't understand what they are trying to achieve with this. Ride the NFT curve to make some money before NFT values tank to $0?
What could this mean?
- Newest Fun Thing
- New Fortune Trick
- Now Frequently Traded
- Not For Trusting
Why worry about supply chain when we have Blockchain?

Maybe Tom can answer this one. I looked at them really closely yesterday and the nimbus wheels are all one colour of light gun metal on all surfaces. The seneca and hethel emira's have the same wheels but in distinctly different colours with very dark inner surfaces and silver edges that say they are the diamond cut option on the signs. Given there are only 3 choices and the other is all black, I assumed the Nimbus car has the silver wheels.

The photos you and others posted of the Nimbus car are very clearly the diamond cut wheels. They're the same as the Seneca and Hethel cars.

In all fairness,I can see his point.

I was stood there taking pictures of the Hethel yellow and the magma, glancing at my screen and then back at the cars, the colours look completely different in person compared to the pictures, it is completely misleading and I can 100% understand why they would have concerns posting pictures on any of the colours quite frankly.

Even the yellow that is posted on their website now is different in person.

"we're not, it's too hard to picture and show properly".
I know what he means.
In most circumstances it it really dark,
In bright light on certain areas it can misleadingly 'okay'.

Bottom line. Why did they have to give us such a dark green.
I wanted green and I believe, in my first poll at the other forum, green was the clear winner in desire.
