Yep, that was a poor design by Lotus to not be able to just remove those tips from the backside of the bumper!
The job seems much worse than it really is though, few fasteners, unplug the wiring and it pops right off.

Chev did the same thing as you have to remove the bumper to remove the tips on the C8s. Not terrible but definitely a hassle
