Hi all, I'm working with a well known tuner to develop a tuning box for the M139 engine i4 Emira. My car is being trialled over the coming fortnight so I should hopefully have some further info and numbers to post up soon. It will be a plug and play solution, easily removable for routine dealer servicing, etc.

Please don't bother replying if you aren't interested and just want to rant about how 360bhp is more than enough and the world will end if we add some extra horsepower, etc.

On the basis the performance figures from the dyno are healthy and the tuning box is circa £400 can you please let me know if you would be potentially be interested in buying one on this thread. It would be nice for the tuner to know that there is a market for their product with i4 owners.

Thanks.

I'm definitely interested in this. Please keep me updated with all the info. A plug and play solution for me in Western Australia is going to be ideal as I doubt anybody here is going to be able to tune the ECU (once cracked) anyway.

Does a plug and play solution have the ability to remove engine codes due to this 'tune' and the downpipe and exhaust upgrade I have just done?

Yes...when you have more information love to know if it's a reflash, or like a Cobb, or a piggyback, etc. mostly interested in ability tune live with my local shop on their dyno, but base maps with known mods (intake, sports cat, exhaust) is great too for different fuel mixtures globally.

And I will say that price is extremely appealing compared to the normal solutions

I am very interested in a plug and play HP boostfor my i4, do you happen know what the HP gainage will be with this ECU mod? Price sounds good to me.

Yes, very interested. I was told by another well known tuner that it may not be easy to fit one to the Emira, (that’s why they didn’t produce one for the A45S) because of with where the connections would be. Hopefully with the Emira engine being positioned differently, it will make accessing the connections possible.

Sounds like you may have spoken with JB4?

Definitely interested and by your description it sounds like a piggy back? If it is a piggy back then it might not be a DYI job for installation.

Its going to be a plug in solution similar to JB4. If its a pain to install the tuner will offer fitting for a small charge. I paid them to install their box into my g87 M2 as one of the sensor locations if a real pain to reach.

Will it be able to run log like the JB4?

I'd definitely get one if you guys get it right! Would be amazing for someone to offer a tuning option soon

Great to hear this is in development! I'm interested but it would depend on 3 things:
1. How easy it is to install and remove
2. How easy it is to detect from the logging
3. No CELs

More work carried out on my i4 today. Whilst the engine and trans are identical to the A45S, the i4 Emira has some unique hardware that's proven challenging. It's a case of 2 steps forward, 1 step back.
Fortunately the tuner seems to be enjoying the challenge and so far at least, problem solving each technical issue as they crop up.

Give your tuner as much encouragement from us as possible! You figure, how long has the I4 been out in China...and NO ONE has cracked the ecu yet? the entire technology industrial global complex is based there and nothing has happened yet?? lol. Jubu confirmed again via email that it's not going to happen anytime soon on their end it's proving to be quite the challenge.

As far as I know, there are two locks for the ecu. One from the Mercedes as standard to prevent overall attempt (this one has been cracked), and one from Mercedes to prevent Lotus from touching its system and where the problem is.
