UK Question

I know it s a bit early but when I lock in the spec I need to specify if I need a tracker or not . I know I can add one after through a third party which may be a bit cheaper than the factory fitted option but my previous insurer on my 350 Sport would not allow the car to leave the dealers until the tracker was fitted and operational.

I just need social use and have always used CCI/ Footman James which comes with six free track days which I like to have . They are saying no tracker needed but I have to join the Lotus Drivers Club or they will not insure the car at all. DC are apparently a ' Gold' associate at Footman james

Just wondering who is everyone planning to use for insurance and whether trackers are being requested as the norm or not

Thanks

can you order it still from Lotus if you havent got it in your original configuration?
I would expect so yes, as it's a small addition late in the build process. If you're in June delivery batch I'd suggest asking asap as specs are now locked. For later batches there is still time for changes.

As trackers have chips in there's always the worry about supply issues. Hence why Lotus had this (and Homelink) in the early config options so they could gauge demand.

Anyone else in the UK having issues getting an insurance quotation?. My car is meant to be arriving in July but no one wants to give a price, even budget at this stage?. Also I'm having issues getting a quote as I've not owned an equivalent high powered car before. Just had an Elise for 21 years with no claims!

I suspect it's because the car is still pre-delivery to the general market and may therefore not appear on ratings databases, etc. yet - you could try talking to the guys and girls at specialists AIB for a view - they've always been good for my Evora...

I’m with Admiral and when the Tracker subscription was due on one of my previous cars I asked for a quote with and without the Tracker, without was actually £40 a year cheaper, I never bothered renewing the subscription, my though was I didn’t really want the car back anyway if it had been stolen.

Compare the market via Topcashback, cheapest quote from a company I've heard of and job done! Not suprised companies aren't giving out quotes yet. If you want an idea stick in a new Evora 410 and see what the damage is

Same as DavidExige above, I’d been with Esure many years and when I got my I8 they wouldn’t insure it due to value so moved to Admiral. Had tracker on both I8 then R8 ( car value >£100k ) when tracker ran out my insurance quote was actually cheaper and you also save on the annual subscription so now don’t bother with trackers. I also find them a pain extra fob false alarms etc. however my Emira is coming with tracker even though didn’t want one as I took a cancelled order to move from August to June.

Sounds good. Out of interest, have Lotus given you an actual delivery date yet in June?

Out of curiosity I just tried this on a 2022 Evora GT410 Sport, valued at £80k, no NCB (as it is used on my daily car), 4k miles a year, £250 excess. Absolutely staggered to find the cheapest quote was only £170 fully comp. I live in a very low risk area, but I was expecting it to be multiples higher than that.

Mine was £220! I guess they figure nobody knows about them to steal them 🤷 🤣
My GR Yaris is 260, my Boxster S was £240, M2 Comp £300 so all ball park, but Lotus definitely lower!

No no word yet, but I really want a test drive before I take delivery- as I have high expectations. I emailed garage re: test drive haven’t even received a courtesy response
I spoke to Lotus about this. June delivery customers will be allowed to pay full balance later to allow more time for a test drive.

Sounds a very good price. I just did the same quote for interest and best price was £325. That was with full NCB, no accidents or convictions, social use only as I am retired, aged 58 and live in a low crime area. This was similar to the actual price I paid last year for my Evora 410 Sport, three years old and worth £20K less. Sometimes insurance prices just don't make sense as the value of the car doesn't always affect the premiums as much as you would expect.
Hopefully, this will be indicative of the Emira costs. I wonder if the model gets loaded into the insurance datatbases once Lotus have type approval confirmed.
I have budgeted more for insurance just in case, but it would be very nice to put any underspend towards one or two tanks of fuel!
