Is it possible to identify the build date from the VIN?

Does anyone know which characters (if any) denote the month and year of a vehicle build from the 17 character VIN code?

so I understand you can’t identify the build date by the vin, and unfortunately I wouldn’t be next to my car for the next month and a half but I have to find out it’s build date (to know my export deadline, which is 2 years from the build date). Is there any way I could check what it is ? My sales person will only be at the office next week unfortunately.
(My car arrived in Italy on the 17th of January 2023)

Hi. I still haven’t discovered whether there is anything on the vehicle denoting build date. But I contacted Lotus Customer services (Finance actually) and they provided the date that the car was “released to sales” which corresponds to end of build. Might be worth a call. Hope that helps.

Should be, more or less.

My car is in the 1600 range and was built in January 2024.

Does Lotus still sell those certificates that contains the info about the car such as options and stuff? The build date may be on there?

I'm not affiliated in any way, but I did find this while looking at car covers. It includes the "Date Signed From Production", assume thats the date it was completed.
