JayEmm's Review

By the way I really enjoyed this video review. Well done, @JayEmm. And good on you pointing out the bias and history up front to quash the comments from the peanut gallery.

Satisfying review with much you might expect;
However the starkest remark involved 'Lotus knowing how to handle people.'
Really resonated.
Lotus are a bit like my grandmother.

My Dad tells me she was constantly moaning about people coming into her house and drinking her drink and eating her food and making noise.

She owned a pub.

Epic music during the epic intro.

Been waiting for this one.

Def on point. I ordered the same spec except Red calipers because I’m powder coating the engine to match, like the Evora 400. Also, anyone notice his friend has the black badges without having the upper black pack? My man…..

Yes he ordered lotus black letters and changed it

Hello, yes I changed the rear badges for the black lettering, thought it looked better against the yellow. See thread in my signature for details of it all.

JayEmm, you mentioned the room for hybrid pack
Interesting that the M139 does make it to market with 671 combined hybrid horsepower in the AMG C63SE
Would you expect that sort of package to get to market badged Lotus or AMG (who seem to get little benefit from putting their engine in a lotus) - IF it got to market

Don’t think that drivetrain is even possible in the Emira. Just look at what’s involved:

"Originally released as the last ICE car by Lotus UK, the Emira is expected to be converted to BEV from 2027 onwards."

Probably by using the rear subframe described in the LEVA piece, where it it’s described as “the rear structure is 37% lighter than it is on the Lotus Emira V6” - a new name (maybe) and type number (probably 135) and the job’s a carrot…….

A decade ago there was a plan for a hybrid Evora, the thing was designed for a variety of powertrain options.

They put the battery where the back seats went. Makes sense - centres the mass etc

I think the only option for a “hybrid” M139 option for EMIRA will be one that takes up a bare minimum of extra space, and also a bare minimum of extra weight. I do think such an engineered solution exist, but the real issue will be the will and determination by both LOTUS itself, and Mercedes AMG, to implement it, and make a custom version that actually is a drop-in fit on the EMIRA with M139. Also, to make this worthwhile, the solution in question must be effective enough to almost halve the emissions output as compared to the pure ICE version.

JayEmm just published a review of the Corvette C8 Stingray and compares it to the Emira in there. Have a look at timestamp 17:50 for the mention of Emira:

Quite a nice shout out for the Emira within the context of the Corvette. Thanks for the entertainment.

Not surprised about the interior being trash. Was surprised that the overall performance and feel was lacking. That much power and the Stingray should absolutely scream. Probably too damn heavy. “Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere”
