JayEmm's Review

Not surprised about the interior being trash. Was surprised that the overall performance and feel was lacking. That much power and the Stingray should absolutely scream. Probably too damn heavy. “Adding power makes you faster on the straights. Subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere”
Not sure you can honestly say the interior is "trash." Let's look to previous generations to see how far this interior has really come.
Also, JayEmm is one of the very few reviewers who was disappointed in the C8. It was actually quite a surprising review, imo. Nearly every reviewer had praised the C8 generation. But one guy isn't impressed and it's "trash?"
There have been reviewers who have mentioned the lack of steering feel but they go on to say the rest of it is so good, it can be somewhat forgiven

From the reviews I’ve seen by JayEmm, he seems to reveal in finding faults with cars. I do believe the Emira is better suited to UK and Euro roads while the C8 is great for NA roads. To each his own, but I take his reviews with a grain of salt especially when he reviews a NA import.

I love that someone had an opposing view and I also love that JayEmm doesn't seem to pander to the automakers.
Totally agree that the C8 is not in its element in the UK. I never a fan of the C8. However thr Z06 is interesting. Have yet to drive a C8 but owned 2 C7's and I'd have another in a heartbeat!

I live in the great white north of NA and contrary to popular belief it doesn’t snow here in Canada all year long. However, I do have a deposit in on a C8 E-RAY so I’m looking forward to doing a little snow plowing with it next winter. 😄 (BTW: IMHO C8’s drive great and GM has really upped their game with the quality of it’s interior. The PDR is great too.)

For the record - The interior of my Emira is GREAT!
Nothing at all has fallen off, there are no squeals and it looks and feels marvellous.
This is from a Bentley and top-end Mercedes owner.

It holds up against any rival unless you really, really wish to go over it with a fine toothcomb, in which case I feel sorry for you as you have seriously missed the point.

I don't think the C8 is trash, but JayEmm's general feelings on the C8 otherwise mirror mine very closely. I'm someone that has grown accustomed to the virtues of Lotus (and the like) vehicles, and a very strong believer in the recipe. JayEmm's relationship with Lotus cars is well documented, his Evora being the catalyst for his channel.

I see the C8 and Lotus [anything] as sort of opposites. Lotus being all about lightweight, compact, less power, more balance, engagement over performance. The C8 is heavier, larger, more power, and prioritizes performance over engagement.

So I think it's just context. If you want a car that's easy to drive, comfortable, has plenty of performance on tap but generally doesn't ask much of you, the C8 is a great car (and certainly not trash). If you're someone who wants occasion, feedback, involvement, well then you might not think so highly of it, and prefer the older generations. It sounds like this is where JayEmm and I align.

Personally, at this point, if you're going to take the engagement bits out of the sports car and make it heavier/less connected, I'd rather it be electric.

Agree with your points. Again, I've never been a C8 fan. But just didn't agree with Hell4leather's calling the interior "trash" either.
I am sure JayEmm went into his C8 review knowing it couldn't truly be compared to the Emira. So again, it was surprising to me that he called it a "miss" when they've completely turned the Corvette upside down from the last generation. Quite a daring thing to tackle, if you ask me. 😊
