I really do want to try this, however I'm having a hard time validating the effectiveness of this ECU swap, and quantifying longevity of the powertrain after install. Is there info I'm missing, I only see a few basic videos online. Thx!
These dyno results were posted from a JUBU ECU installation by a forum member earlier in this thread. JUBU limits torque (Below 500nm) to preserve the pistons based upon their extensive experience with the motor but there is some risk any time you tune. It certainly appears that they delver what they promise (and then some).

Right on, I've certainly have seen their short videos and posted dyno sheets, what I can't seem to find is a healthy amount of folks who have performed the ecu swap and offer their feedback🤷‍♂️
 
I'll start out by apologizing with my following summary/questions and state that I've NEVER modified a vehicle before (other than a simple Solar throttle control on a 2023 C8 Corvette), so this is all new to me. Next, I'll sincerely thank hellasf1 for all his hard work/time/patience and initiating this Jubu group buy. I found your numerous comments invaluable. Perhaps (?) the following summary putting everything together in one posting will help others like me, who are new to the "modding game", and encourage more sales...

I'm interested in the Jubu ECU 440 HP upgrade. My understanding:

1. current price set to expire around the end of this month: 6,690 Euros; however for Forum group buy it's 5,409.16 Euros (w/o EU VAT, for non-EU buyers), less 15% discount = 4,597.79 Euros, plus ship and cross-border customs fee on top. An example of those latter 2 were US$220 ship and US$191 customs for hellasf1 in N. Carolina (no doubt varying for others elsewhere).

2. to achieve that HP increase frm 400 to 440, you need only the Jubu ECU which can later be used as a stepping stone for further HP increases (460 and up to 500 HP), for those who want to go the extra mile/$ and install additional engine mods, which carry a hefty cost for replacement parts and labour.

3. that said, some suggest it's really beneficial to marry the Jubu ECU with the third Cat delete and an after-market air filter such as those sold by GRP (Gregsraceparts.com):

a) Emira Cat Delete for US$249 (and to be safe, a new exhaust ring gasket for about US$10). Jubu mentions this third cat delete will add some 5 to 7 HP;
b) either the High-Flow Dry Media (oil-free) air filter for US$74.99, or the K&N (pre-oiled) air filter for US$64.99.

I note Lotus issued service bulletin 2020/01 focused on after-market air filters and telling all dealers these void warranties since they can cause issues, plus make no performance difference. No doubt the Jubu ECU would void warranty as well, IF left in when dropping the car off at a dealer.

Is everyone else who has the Jubu ECU, doing at least the above 2 smaller mods (third cat delete and "upgraded" air cleaner) or any others that don't cost a lot more dough?

4. After purchase steps necessary:

a) the ECU install time ranges from a low of about an hour (if the left rear wheel well is removed) to less than 15 minutes, if you know what you're doing and have the right tools, to do the swap all within the engine bay. Did you ever get a video hellasf1 of Rene doing the shorter engine bay install? If not, your explanation on this thread seems fairly clear.

b) remote tuning session with "Jubu/Syvecs", to properly calibrate the ECU software, by connecting the Jubu ECU to the Syvecs "TeamViewer" using a windows-based laptop. Sounds easy enough but it's troubling for me in Canada to see that my country looks to have had the majority of ECU software glitches, compared to all other countries although it sounds like Jubu has worked hard to rectify them for everyone.

5. other options available, with the Jubu ECU:

a) the main additional option I want is the increased speed limiter, from 6,800 RPM to 7,200 RPM. I don't see any pricing for this "option" and perhaps (?) it comes with the Jubu ECU n/c? I note Jubu recommends it be combined with their "cooling kit" (199 Euros, for both a new thermostat and water pump...with either a 76 degree thermostat for street and track, or a 69 degree thermostat for more frequent track use). And then, Jubu suggests the cooling kit would work best with a "charge cooling hose upgrade" (219 Euros). Finally, hellasf1 mentions a January software update for the speed limiter (and the +/- cruise control buttons), so it looks like everyone with this Jubu ECU will need at least that update, once it's announced by Jubu sometime early next year.

Is there an extra cost for the increased speed limiter? Did everyone get at least the Jubu "cooling kit" to go along with it?

b) the website mentions a BlueTooth modul (990 Euros installed). I'm not overly interested in accessing ECU data on my iPhone, etc. for my (mostly) street and occasional track use, but I'd be interested in hearing comments from others who think this worth the dough. I note hellasf1 has mentioned anyone who purchased the BlueTooth modul, will be getting a free upgrade once Jubu releases a better version, so apparently that's a work in progress.

c) the website also mentions a "Motorsport traction control GPS module in 12 steps" (1,690 Euros installed). I couldn't see an explanation of exactly what it is; the website reference went nowhere for me. Can anyone explain that and whether it's a worthwhile option for the price?

6. Finally and when selling your Emira, the "bad news" is that the Jubu ECU is tied to a specific vehicle VIN, but the "good news" is that you can remove it and sell the Jubu ECU to another Emira-only (likely?) owner, who can then have it reprogrammed in about an hour by Jubu, for about 150 Euros. So you should be able to recoup some of your cost for this mod, if the person buying your Emira isn't keen on paying for it (most buyers ignore the cost of any accessories).

Hopefully my summary is correct. I'd very much appreciate answers to the highlighted questions above and thank anyone who's been patient enough to read what I've just posted.

Really good summary! I’ll let others chime in with more experience but to answer one of your questions around smaller mods, yes, many already have these mods and seem fine with JUBU.

I’m also curious on the speed limiter question as the 7200 redline would be ideal.

I wasn’t planning on getting anything outside of the JUBU ECU. No cooling,m extras, no Bluetooth etc. I was simply considering getting the ECU. (I wonder if it comes with a OBD2 plug that you connect to a laptop etc for those that don’t get Bluetooth).
 
Do we know if the Jubu upgrade gives auto rev match? I know I know heel and toe - but I must admit sometimes it's easier.

Yes it does. Only in track mode and you must be on the brake to activate. Obviously no gear sensors in the transmission so this is the only way. They might created it for the transmission but that would be a big install just for you to have auto rev by clutch engagement only.

The new update it’s actually really good. You barely have to be on the brake for it to auto match for you.

But again auto rev match with brake applied makes sense bc on a race track you wouldn’t be downshifting without the brake being applied.

1. My cost for customs was with the cooking kit so mine was more money total. If you’re only doing the ECU it would be cheaper since it’s also based on total value of what’s being shipped. (Side note I have not installed the cooking kit yet, I need to get that done. I will ask the others who has, I believe only a couple of us went with the cooling kit. More on that later when I get answers)

2. Yes spot on!

3. Yes most of us have the 3rd cat delete prior to ECU upgrade and a couple have the Eventuri intake as well. JUBU says no need for aftermarket intake just new filter as in their testing and cars they use the stock box with sports filter up to 530 hp kits. I have not done any filter or aftermarket intake. I will probably wait till I go to the 460 and just trust JUBU on the filter only route. (Which comes part of the 460 kit btw) That will save me the cost of aftermarket intake that I can apply to the 460 kit. The new filter or intake isn’t necessary on 440 but it is on 460 kit.

4. a) Yes those are the 2 routes. The engine bay is the one I will stick with. I just pinged him to see if they can send me the video but it’s not good bc it was from outside. If they don’t have anything good I will take some pictures and upload. It is very tight, but long shirt to protect your arm and getting in the trunk are both keys to making this work.

b) Yes correct!

5. a) Yes those options you see are no charge. So you can pick 6,800 or 7,200 and it’s the same cost. On the 7,200 note that your redline will only show 7k, you can take it to 7,200 but max redline shows 7k. They are working on getting that fixed to display the full 7,200.

As far as the cooling I did the 76 degree but haven’t installed yet. The 69 is only for pure track car so I would advised against as that’s what JUBU told me.

And yes that update will be via remote session to fix those in Jan. I will circle back to see if anyone has installed the cooling kit. When I asked Rene he said you would really “feel” that upgrade but your engine and transmission will defiantly feel it. This is way better for the car. It was relatively cheap mod for more longevity and taking extra care of some of the major components of the car. The install I’ll see how cheap it will be lol it might be at least a 4-6 hour job maybe more, hopefully not!

b/c) The Bluetooth we had problems with, so that was uninstalled by them and refunded. The new one they are working on (Syvecs) JUBU said will be much better and use GPS for traction control like F1 cars. More on that as they get close to getting it and testing it.

According to JUBU this will be a big deal! When used with the 460 kit and the “final drive” upgrade they said this sports car is a real superior super car. I don’t have much information but will get more as they get it and test it. I think they said Feb for that new Bluetooth module.

@hellasf1 you can put me down for group buy for the 460 kit. not ready to install yet, but happy to order this year before the US does unknown tariffs next year

How are we looking with the current batch? Are we close to 10?
Once I get this last DM above we are still only at 4.

We need 6 more. That was the issues with the first group but they accepted 6 for us since we were the first.

People have voted above but haven’t heard from them on purchasing. The deadline is around the corner.

We still need 6 people for this group buy of 15% and the lower syvecs cost.

JUBU is closing on Dec 19th so they would like to have the list end of Nov start of Dec 1st. So we really only have 2 weeks tops.

Did you ever get the 440? If so, how is it?
Yea I have the 440. I love it! You can definitely feel the increase in power. The new LC feature is really nice which wasn’t available when I first installed it. So I have only used it with not ideal weather. I did it with outside temps at 60 degrees and about half a dozen times and each time wheel spin for sure for at least half a second maybe little more (I have the cup 2’s) but my best 0-60 was 4.3. I don’t have a SS yet but ordered from GRP. But even without the SS I believe I can get 3.7-3.9 with LC and 440 tune at ideal temps where the tires can actually grip.

That being said we know the Emira isn’t for 0-60 times. Power delivery is linear all the way to redline, I opted for the 7,200. I shift right around 7k bc the redline indicator is there. (They are working on that to show the full 7,200 but you can still take it to 7,200 just hard to judge.) but i no longer feel that the rev limiter sneaks up on me like it did on OEM. That was a very irritating issue as I felt it was too low at 6800 which I think felt like it kicked in at 6600 to be honest.


I will eventually go with the 460 idk if I will go further but it’s tempting, will see how much weight savings I am willing to do and the cost compared to going to the 500 plus kits.

We won’t reach the 10 this year. When we do get 10 people Internet for the buying group it will be 10% and the cost of syvecs will increase. Will see what that is after the new year.
