Seems like Komo-tec has finally released their tuning packages for the V6. I'm seriously considering this, is anyone else going to install the kit?
Would love to hear from anyone who has installed their kits on the Exige or Evora.

I realize this voids the warranty, but how easily can A dealer detect an ECU flash?

How much difference will these make….is it really worth it?

i honestly wouldn’t know how much difference the extra bhp makes

Hmmm... I would at least wait until the warranty has expired.

I've tuned my GT Roadster (over the 9 years I've now owned it) from 265hp to 320hp and then to 380hp.

I finally went back to 320hp, as it was the sweet spot for "usable on the road power".

I think at least the 435hp tune won't make a huge difference, the other one might, but you'll rarely be able to use it on the road.

If you want big horse power, the Emira imo isn't the right car.

I wouldn’t personally do this, I’m a fan of keeping things as they came I was just curious.

Sorry but I'd like to get my hands on the fairy dust these guys are snorting.
$2500 to $8400 would be $4200 to $14000 Canadian.. lol. wow..
I had a Hemi I tuned got 50HP roughly out of it easily. The tuner was $500 to $1000 and then I would do some data logging and then send the file to specialist who would go over the data and then make adjustments and tweaks. Then I would flash my hemi after backing up original. Apparently dealership wouldn't see a trace if I reloaded the original when getting service work done. i would do some more datalogging with new program that i flashed and resend back and buddy would make more adjustments if necessary. You would give this guy any amount you thought fair or how happy you were with HP results etc. Usually $150 usd to $500usd. So max spend would be $1000 to $1500 Canadian for modest gains. If you installed a catback exhaust or new air filter or cai kit etc catch can and other mods the guy could make adjustments for the new backpressure/freer flowing exhaust for example for the exhaust. This system would be similar to the $2500 pound system they are offering but only cost $1500 CAD or less not $4200 CAD.

Im gonna leave my Emira stock. But Im sure there will be more affordable options out there eventually.

Komotech dynoed:

Stock: 353 whp
EM430: 380 whp (+27 whp) (€2,500)
EM460: 415 whp (+62 whp) (€8,350)

I’m guessing these prices include VAT, installation, software and dyno validation. A couple grand of the EM430 and maybe 4K of the EM460 is likely time for labor and dyno.

I couldn’t even run this these tunes — requires 93 octane AKI.

Plus here in CA it's a pain to have to reverse these for smog testing.

Thanks for sharing this kitkat, I also think this is the case here.

Also to keep our hopes up - I understand 93 AKI is the same octane rating we use in North America correct? Euro equivalent would be 98 RON, so there shouldnt be much issue in finding Canadian/American 93 fuel somewhere unless you are in Colorado etc in USA? I'm hearing some areas in the US can only get up to 91 octane.

And worse case, can't you still put 91 octane with these tunes but get slightly lower power figures due to lower octane? You should still be able to run this with mid-grade.

You’ll likely need a different tune for 91, even more conservative with Arizona/California/Nevada 91 (ACN91). i can’t imagine an ACN91 specific tune would net much more than 20whp.

We have up to 94 octane at pumps here in Canada. Unless you go to airport and get jet fuel lol. Or race gas.

If your tune is set to 94 octane you either select another tune.. like I had several I could load or reflash. like 92 or lower or stock tune for regular pump gas.
If you don't use 94 and your tune is calibrated for 94 you'll get engine knock retard etc and can cause damage to engine and components etc.

Thanks for posting this OP.

Prices seem to be very ambitious, but Komo-Tec do offer a TÜV-approval for these stages, this means that at least in Germany these tuning stages are road-legal. That's quite special as most tuners don't do this anymore, hence it could be worth the money, at least for owners in Germany.

Just got some further info from Komo-Tec. At the moment they will only install the tune if you bring them your car, so the price includes labour costs.

Within a few months, they should have the setup to send the tuning files and components, and install the tune remotely. Obviously you would then deduct labour and VAT but add shipping costs.

I managed to talk to a friend who has this kit on an Exige. He says the most noticeable aspect is the gain in torque, but in general the car improves in all areas of performance. Fuel additives must be used to ensure 98 octane equivalent fuel. The car is a LOT louder and he doesn't have engine bay temperature issues.

That is tragic that it requires 93+ and we get shitty 91 in CA. My friend got a BOE tune for his Exige and is on his 3rd engine afterwards. His theory is the tune is optimized for 93+ and it wrecked the engine on 91. Who knows.
