These guys in Yorkshire (not too far from you) do most of the ones in the North of the UK.Can anyone in the UK give a breakdown of cost to have the 3rd Cat delete + valve controller?
Parts and labour?
Anyone know who can fit these in the UK?(ideally Midlands or not too far)
Dealership fitted mine, for free, while in for warranty work. I decided not to go with the valve controller as some have had problems. It shouldn't be more than an hour labour for a competent mechanic. There's a video on YouTube from a member on here showing how to replace the 3rd cat, I sent it to the dealership tech as they hadn't done one before. It was free because of the hassle I've had and they'd already got the rear diffuser off, approximately 20 bolts which probably accounts for the time. Can anyone in the UK give a breakdown of cost to have the 3rd Cat delete + valve controller?

That's interesting. I'm surprised an official dealer would do the mod on a warranty car. Good to know!Dealership fitted mine, for free, while in for warranty work. Its louder on startup and while driving but not so much that it is annoying, more what it should have been from factory.
They checked to ensure it wouldn't affect warranty through fault codes. The 3rd cat is of no consequence in Britain, it was purely for the US market I've read. The valve controller would be a different matter. That's interesting. I'm surprised an official dealer would do the mod on a warranty car. Good to know!
It is louder but not where you think 'wow that is loud'. It's subjective of course but I'm glad I had it changed, kept the original cat so I can pass it on if a new owner wanted to replace it.My plan is to ask Manchester if they will do it, other than that Northwich.
How much difference has the 3rd cat removal made?
Just so I’m clear, the 3rd cat is fitted to UK cars even though it’s not a requirement? In other words there’s no issue from an MOT point of view? Was it the Millteck pipe you fitted? They checked to ensure it wouldn't affect warranty through fault codes. The 3rd cat is of no consequence in Britain, it was purely for the US market I've read. Not sure on the technical law of removing an emissions control device (cat) that was factory installed. But you'll most likely get away with it and pass an MOT test.Just so I’m clear, the sad cat is fitted to UK cars even though it’s not a requirement? Thanks, Cheadle if you know it at all.It is louder but not where you think 'wow that is loud'. It's subjective of course but I'm glad I had it changed, kept the original cat so I can pass it on if a new owner wanted to replace it.
Whereabouts are you if you're near Manchester, I'm in Huddersfield.
This is something I had been told too by Milltek. The 3rd cat is only needed for US export - not legally needed in the UK.Just so I’m clear, the 3rd cat is fitted to UK cars even though it’s not a requirement? Valve controller or third cat removal. Which makes a bigger difference? This is something I had been told too by Milltek. The 3rd cat is only needed for US export - not legally needed in the UK.
Also I I double checked and had my Emira with the Milltek valve controller and 3rd cat delete checked for emissions; it was fine the the UK MOT and also London ULEZ.
No idea - both were done on my car before I got it. I'm the second owner. There was no documentation with the car so I spoke to Milltek and sent them some photos (great customer service from them by the way) & also had the car emissions tested at my local garage that I trust.Valve controller or third cat removal. Which makes a bigger difference?
Everything I've read points to US requirement, specifically California and NY, not UK. The Miltek one comes with a small welded tag that says 'not for road use' which obviously covers them from any liability. I took an angle grinder to that before fitting.Just so I’m clear, the 3rd cat is fitted to UK cars even though it’s not a requirement? In other words there’s no issue from an MOT point of view?
