I know it has been mentioned in text and video reviews that you can't rush this gearbox, but I am curious how consistent the issues are with shifting in to 2nd and 3rd gear... specifically at redline. When at redline, my 2nd gear requires quite a bit of pause/forcefulness before the gearbox will let me in. For 3rd gear, I get a bit less resistance but occasionally a minor grind if I do not give it more time (we're talking what feels like a full second). When I do give it a good second it goes in, but I also feel two engagements/notches in third, with the 2nd notch being fully engaged.

No problems at all with 4th (although I have only had 1 or 2 redline shifts into 4th). No problems with any gears at less than redline, either.

Interesting is your blue? I live about 5 minutes from your area i am on the lake. I See a blue one driving around Little Elm all the time. (3) .
The 2nd gear was the same with the Evora, I know it was improved on the 400 & GT. When I drove the demo Emiras, I thought it felt very similar to the 400. The gearbox is fuzzie when being rushed into a gear, I am not sure anything can be done unless you go aftermarket. Many of the journalists make the same comments in their Emira review about the gearbox. My car is still being shipped as I still don’t have possession of it yet.

Yep, that's probably me! 1350 miles so far and I live at Panther Creek and 423, often driving down towards the lake on Eldorado. I took my first photoset at the docking area 😊

How do you find the shifting from 2 to 3 not at redline? It took me a long time to perfect that shift. When perfected its butter smooth and not notchy

When not at redline I enjoy the shifting in every gear... smooth as butter!

This is interesting. I don't own an Emira yet, but my Cayman (which I bought brand new) had a similar issue. If I shift from 1st to 2nd at high RPM, it doesn't want to go in very easily, and would occasionally get a little "crunchy." It got better after about 1000 miles (no more "crunchiness") but it still doesn't love going from 1st to 2nd at high RPM and you really have to be deliberate about it. 2nd to 3rd is has always been easy. I spoke to multiple sources and was told that this is pretty normal (at least for Caymans).

I've heard that many BMW drivers have similar issues with new cars.

Mine has always been fast and smooth. However after my first track weekend i found that shifting close to redline in 3-4-5 required a slower, more deliberate shift.

No problem in finding the gear, just didn't want to be rushed into engagement. Maybe it'll become easier after the synchro's get more miles on them?
