OK talk to me about the Alpine 110

I have ordered a base A110 in orange with the comfort pack - due end of the year. I looked at the GT but the only advantage over the base plus comfort pack was the more powerful engine which I wasn't bothered about. It was sublime round Thruxton and lovely on local roads on the test drive.

I've left my Emira deposit in place as I'm waiting on a base I4 - see no reason to cancel at this point as I suspect they won't be available until '24 in any case.
Love the orange sounds like a great spec

I know it gets mentioned in quite a few threads, but don't think there is a dedicated thread for it.
I've gone full circle with this car and inspite of it being a 4cyl auto...🙈 it could actually tick a few boxes for me as an interim classier steer than my current Yaris, whilst still keeping those pin sharp dynamics.
Found a lovely 296bhp Legende GT and tempted to make an inquiry.
Thoughts?
i''ve had visitors.... bloody free loaders....coming here, eating my food, keeping me company, playing with my dogs, being decent friends.....
anyway, not read all the thread, BUT off the bat, IF it is to replace your girlish GR Yarish tag car, then yes by all means get this car. I think you will enjoy it more and look like an adult instead of a 17 year old....
However, long term..... its a bit of a design disaster as they had an impossible job..... its awkward as I have said before... inside it feels a bit cheap... .and car info entertainment is not good either ..... probably not even as good as Lotus.
As a stop gap... sure, but as your EMira should be out in a few months... IF you are still going to get it, then makes little sense. However, if as I suspect its to say ciao to the EMira and have this car while you think what other crap heap is out there, then its a good experience to own one I think.
IFFFFFFF I WERE you..... 100% a caterham get one on order 3k deposit, change your mind later... wont lose any money one way or another.
THen as the other car.... well your minivan/ camper van.... and you have your golf with an arse.... what more do you realistically need?

Go get a woman and stop worrying about stupid cars....or am I speaking to myself.... probably haha.

You'd expect me to say this, but they don't 'photo well and appear dumpy in most pictures. In the flesh they are very small and, dare I say it, dainty - the complete antithesis of the C8 which is brutally handsome (in my view).

Saw a blue one at the Lotus meet with @TomE on Sunday at Newlands.
It was in that lovely dark blue. Tiny car and looks pretty cool inside, cooler than a Cayman.
Certainly a viable cheaper alternative as a fun weekend car and I would congratulate anybody on having one. If the prices have come down a bit from new then happy days.

Just looked on Autotrader. 73 for sale!!! So is 800 built correct? That is a large percentage.
45k entry point.

Sage life advice 🤣
A camper, an Alpine and a Caterham would be a good driveway 💪

A lot of those (could be 40% plus) are speculative dealer orders, so not real cars (yet!). I took over a dealer order that was placed in June this year and amended the spec to what I wanted. The 800 is based on the 750 odd that appear on howmanyleft. There are much more popular in France (as you'd expect!) and outnumber Porsche there - almost on every street corner!

I am currently sat in France.....have driven around for 10 days or so, obviously cant generalize, but not seen even one and some of the unwanted french orders ending up in Spain....
I do believe this car, despite James May and every journo loving it, does not sell well...... even in France..... Im pretty sure any porsche model you care to name outsells it... but I dont have the numbers to back up my claims :)

You're right, it doesn't sell well... a combination of interior quality being a step below Porsche and the lack of a Porsche badge I suspect. If you're going to spend £50k plus on a sports car, most will plump for a Porsche.

Porsche only publish combined Boxster and Cayman sales numbers and the Alpine sells about half that in France - so its roughly comparable to the Cayman sales wise... maybe!

I can recommend driving one both on road and track. You can drive both models at Thruxton, but be warned if you like Exiges/Elises then you'll rather like the Alpine as well!

This is 10 x prettier than the C8 😋

Very few occasions where I disagree with you but the A110 has always been a weird car for me. It certainly has fun car specs and the promise of being a good driver’s car but my god is it ugly.

I’m just glad I don’t have to see them on this side of the pond.

Had my alpine May 2021 - Tulip Noire -dark purple - from alpine Solihull , had revisions to brakes geometry and suspension by for life David Pooke ; found the straight ahead stance especially on motorways awkward and floaty before the revisions and kept it 240 bhp ,as it honours the warranty and have tried the S version 300 bhp and couldn’t tell any difference in road use between them . Now done 10k miles ,first service 400 pounds , other than that never put a foot wrong and no rattles or issues . Always a pleasure to drive and gets attention everywhere , people wanting to know who makes them how fast economical etc , bit of a petrol head hence the forum and blessed with a few motors -Audi r8 rws ,porsche718 caymen spyder , bmw m5 comp, merc gts r, f type r current year , and in honesty when I choose a car to drive the alpine is always an event and a joy to drive -nothing out there like it and for exclusivity in the 18 mths of ownership I’ve only seen perhaps 5 on the road which is a shame ! I’m told they’ve sold circa 500 in the uk which explains why and will help in there depreciation come 2024 when they stop production - future classic !

The S loses the lovely floaty ride/ handling. More like a Cayman suspension. Perhaps better on track but normal one brilliant on road. Read Gordon Murray’s comments 👍
Interesting that you like the floaty ride - friend bought one in the summer, and said he found the feeling of lightness didn’t inspire confidence. Had the suspension worked on to stiffen it up and he’s much happier with it now. It is French, so I don’t suppose he should have been surprised

Ooooo any pics? I'm a bit partial to that purple 💜 colour.
I should go and drive both, but coming from a sports car background how was the ride of the Sport over the std car?
Will try and book something in for this weekend. Just a bit if a trek to Manchester at a weekend

Almost seems like a bargain 😅💙
That’s a decent spec and 2022 model so will have car play. Paint alone is £1650 and exhaust nearly £1400. I can’t help but want one of these

Looks good I liked these seats and even though they have no back adjustment seemed to suit me fine, hopefully between the 3 heights one will be spot on for you. Got the all important sports exhaust 👍 n upgraded audio, 18 inch wheels 🛞

Plus the price has been reduced today to £52,991, it was £53,491 previously. I have been watching this for the past few days. I have bought a car from them in the past, they have some amazing cars. It is only a few miles from where I live and I am very tempted to have a look. My wife has her heart set on the Emira at the moment, but I am quickly losing interest now with the continual creeping delays.
I just know that if I go and look at it and get chatting to Matt again (the owner of the garage), I will end up buying it!
I just know that the whole process of buying a car with a good sales guy and a bit of haggling, banter and coffee drinking is all the things that Lotus are against and my patience with Lotus now is wafer thin. Lotus have done a great job of completely removing all the fun from buying a new car.

Well give me a chance to at least go and look at it 😅😉
It's the closest car to me also
