Pulled out, after getting conflicting delevery dates from Lotus CC

Not happy to hear about more communication and ADM stuff. Once I didn't get an FE I decided I was in for the long haul. There is almost just as much Porsche talk on the forum as Emira talk! Everyone seems to have a different situation. As I have stated before I debated almost a year about a Cayman GT4. I didn't necessarily need a new one, there are several used ones. I have three saved right now on my Autotrader page, all with less than 5K miles. The instant I saw the Emira my deposit went in and the Cayman went out.

My situation is that I want a mid engined car as I have never driven in one or even rode in one. That's gonna be changing in the next couple of weeks! So I am all in for waiting on the Emira. Right now I am hoping it comes by Q2 2024. I can say for most people cars are passion and they drive your emotion. There is no right or wrong path, only your path.

Congrats what a great choice , this is what I would have if the emira doesn’t come through , what year did you go for ? Was it new or a few years old , how is the survive abs warranty pack and idea of cost ?
I really want the car you just bought 👌🏽 Class !
Insurance is cheaper than last BMW.... Its a 2010, but still looks like show room condition, £1500 for 42 month warranty, dealer putting towards, the car had lots of work done 500 miles ago, a lot of car for 45k, oh and I get the private plates the car has on it :)

I actually bought a M3 Comp X-drive as a backup to the Emira. I have had it for two months and I just sold it. It just did nothing for me. It was insanely fast. It was a great car, but I felt it was too fast for the streets. I liked my E92 much better. The sound of the engine and the lower hp was more enjoyable. I could get more out of the engine on a daily basis. I will have to wait almost a year till my Emira arrives. I was hoping for this year, but my dealer only got seven FE models.

Andrew, I'm glad you found another car that tickles your fancy and checks all the boxes.
I'm also thinking about pulling the plug on my Emira.
The way things sit now, I may end up taking delivery of my base Emira sometime in 2024, which is a very long way off, and life is short and getting very unpredictable.
The reason I chose a Lotus in the first place is because I'm looking for a car that offers the most driver engagement, driver involvement raw, visceral, sensory, analog, driving experience, so a manual transmission is a must.
Unfortunately, there are very few cars for sale today that provide that kind of experience for around $100,000 CDN or £60,000.
Most Porsche's these days are so polished, and incredibly refined, they don't provide that raw, visceral experience I'm looking for, plus a GT3 costs almost $200,000 CDN and that's if you can even qualify for one.
Believe it or not, the car I've been researching to replace my Emira order is the Shelby Mustang GT350.
Now guys please don't laugh, I know what you're thinking especially all of you gents across the pond, a Ford Mustang in place of a Lotus, you've got to be kidding, but hear me out.
The Shelby GT350 is a very, very capable sports car and not just a straight line muscle car like the Mustangs of old, as it handles incredibly well.
It comes with a sophisticated flat-plane crank V8 engine that sounds glorious and revs to an amazing 8,250 rpm, and talk about the raw visceral, analog sensory overload....it has it in droves.
Planning on test driving two tomorrow weather permitting.🤞
For those of you not familiar with the Shelby GT350 here's a little sample.

I have contemplated buying one since their debut and almost pulled the trigger twice. They are the best mustang ever made...

No laughing from me. I kinda get it and applaud your thinking @Maverick1.

Sure, it’s a very different sort of tool to the Emira (as @freefall_junkie points out 🤣), but if you want something that’s competent but also reaches deep down into your emotions; that speaks to your soul as much as to your head; and then makes you grin like a looney every time you fire it up then go for it!

I like the GT350 and the GT350R. Please report back after your test drive and let us know how it was.

You hit the proverbial nail on the head my friend, every single review of the Shelby GT350 has been positive, I've never seen a negative review on it and most reviewers are usually driving with a huge smile on their faces, laughing their heads off so giddy at the Driving Experience, checking all the boxes.
It seems to make every outing a memorable event.
I've found a very slightly used 2016 GT350 with only 5,500 miles at a somewhat reasonable price, $36,000+ cheaper than the Emira for me.
If I end up buying one I would definitely get the extended warranty which I got a price on, for 4 years or 40,000 km powertrain warranty for $2,100.
In 2016 it came in second place in motor trend's driver car of the year which is pretty impressive considering the cars in the competition.

My main problem with the GT350 was that by the time you had the top of second gear you're already breaking the speed limit. It doesn't leave a whole lot of room for fun revving it out all the time...

I’ve got the E93 M3 , been looking into the supercharger route. Does it spin though on first and second gears if you floor it, ie mash the throttle?
I never got past the break in period. Awd hooks up, but I had to keep it in comfort and even be careful to keep it under 5K.

I can understand the frustration and life is short so also understand why you would get something to enjoy in this moment. I'm fortunate in some ways that one of my closest friends (personally and geographically) is also a car nut so we share our cars between us (even though we buy our own cars). In addition to my wifes RS3 I have his 911 (991.1 Carrera S) and his B8 RS4 to enjoy along with his 718 GT4 which is coming in June so even though the Emira isn't due until October or later I can get by borrowing the 911 or GT4.

Thanks, yep as you say life is to sort,

Oh i would loved to have stayed in the Emira list.... but come next year... i think it would be beond what i could afford,,, inflation... loans up to 11% or 12 % interest

As for the bentley... not even thought about one before, but something with W12 engine... 0-62 in 3.8 ish seconds, AWD.... the quality in side , which dont look it.... yep 10 years old, but still fresh, seats, carpets looking like new .

:)

@Tonyshepp nice!! I have the harrop kit so it has more torque from down low comparatively to ess/vf. With that said you won't have issues with traction as long as you modulate the pedal. With a stock dct e9x m3 if you mash the throttle it will clutch kick into a huge burn out through first and second anyway so its not the power so much but how you apply it. I am also running gts tire set ups so I get pretty good traction. If I drop down to mid 20s psi I can outlaunch a gtr and basically every Porsche minus turbo S. I don't care about that as much though so I keep psi higher and have fun getting the car sideways every chance I get. It makes you feel like the car got a v12 swap, and it makes you fall in love with it even more.
