Any ideas ? New sound started today . When turning the car left or right from standstill for instance to enter or exit a driveway there is a clicking coming from the steering wheel . It’s not the “thud “ “ thud “ sound of the Ackermann effect .

Your description of the sound is exactly right . It is like metal bending . It’s stopped now but today has been quite warm and the car was fully warmed up when it started .I don’t know if you can hear it outside . Will ask B&C when I go there on Thursday about other matters .Can you hear it from the outside as well? Does it sound like metal bending? I had it on my car, it came from the floor panels underneath the car flexing when steering at stand still. Mostly happened when it was cold outside.
It was fixed by my dealer by adding some rivets to the floor panels.
What was your outcome on this. I had a similar but much less prominent sound like this today stand still turning wheel.Your description of the sound is exactly right . It is like metal bending . It’s stopped now but today has been quite warm and the car was fully warmed up when it started .I don’t know if you can hear it outside . Does the sound persist? Or only sometimes? Get any worse? The one in the posted video above seemed insanely loud !Was told not to worry about it . Just had a thorough check up done to the car as well as 1000 mile oil and filter change . Got a clean bill of health . Latest software update done at same time plus air bag tether recall . Interestingly the car had brake hoses changed as part of the check.
What was it ? My steering wheel creaks when it’s hot .It only happens occasionally. It’s always the same volume . Like I said previously sounds like a long pin “pinging” . I just ignore it now and add it to the list of the cars peculiarities.
