Tariffs on Emira in US?

The UK isnt in the EU so if the tariffs are placed on the EU, it wont affect the Emira.
Trump has already named the UK as a country that he will look at placing tariffs on. It’s therefore likely that there’ll be a tariff for the EU and a tariff for the UK. As to whether they’ll be the same, or who’ll have the higher tariff, is anyone’s guess. It’s also possible that Trump will role back one, the other or both, depending one which country massages his ego the most.

I recall he had some disputes with Scotland over wind turbines near one of his golf courses. So I would suspect the UK would be high on his list for tariffs.

From todays Trump - Starmer meeting looks like its business as usual. Which will be good for all. I do accept the UK taxes more on new cars than the USA, but the difference isn't too great.

Hopefully when the agreements are made there will be no change.

In the USA you'll still have your Sales Tax, Gas Guzzler Tax, Title and Registration Fees and Personal Property Tax.

Enjoy your Lotus Emira to the full!

I think the more serious question is, if Trump/Musk do impose a 25% tariff on UK cars, will Lotus just pull out of the US market entirely? They've come close to doing so before from what I've read (like, before the Elise was greenlit for US). Sales seem a bit slow currently, and their EV plans have been completely derailed in this country due to the China EV tariff already in place. Their business plan doesn't work great right now (for the US market), and any new tariffs would probably be the nail in the coffin.

I personally do not think the UK is in the cross hairs for 25% tariffs on anything (or any tariffs)... However it may be a full tariff on ANY auto's imported to the USA. The UK might not be in the cross hairs, but it might be collateral damage.

Not to get political but you should expect the tariffs on the UK and EU goods pretty soon after todays melt down at the White House

make lotus great again! it's gonna be a beautiful factory making the best cars!

on a serious note, if there is a car close to your spec, it's best to buy that and not roll the dice.
I'm on cars.com as we speak.:)

Since I am not in any hurry, I think I am going to hold out to see what happens. I would really prefer to take delivery of a fresh 2025 in my preferred configuration if at all possible.
