The definitive Hawk Brake Pad guide, with Low dust option

Appreciate it. Thanks. Would love to hear a longer term review. Please let us / me know your thoughts after more driving. The brake dust is crazy after every drive
I have about 300 miles on the hawk ceramics now. ABSOLUTELY love them. Very low dust with much improved pedal feel and modulation. Not nearly as grabby as the stock pads.

Any issues from cold? I have the OEM pads still and find them OK from cold and have been caught out with pads on an Elise, that were terrible for the first few mins. Has made me very wary of new pads and their start of day performance.

Good post!

Hadn’t been keeping up with these threads because I don’t have a dust problem, but I am definitely intrigued by a solution to the annoying low speed grabbiness…

Sounds like this pad may improve this?

I have the hawk ceramics on the front now. Love them. No more more low speed grabiness. The dust is lower as well. I have a set of rears that I plan on installing soon. Still haven’t really done a full bed in but they stop just fine so far. Slow stop push lightly. Hard stop keep pushing harder. Stock pads were too grabby. The racing brake pads were even more grabby and were so noisy. I did realize after removing the racing brake pads that they did not have any shims like the OEM pads. So that was definitely part of the noise. The hawks don’t either but I got a set of ebc shims from Summit racing and applied to the pad before installation. Pads are very quiet. Only a slight squeal every now and then. Install was a little tight on one side of each caliper but that is because the rotors are floating with the one install screw (pulls rotor against the hub in an uneven way). I just rotated the hub until I could slide the pad in. The hawk rear pads do have shims already installed, so that is good. I will compare the overall rear pad to the OEM before install but the fronts looked identical to the OEM other than the chamfered leading and leaving edges of the actual pad. OEM’s and racing brakes were completely flat pads. Sorry for the long post!

I'm interested in both reducing the "grabiness" and the dust. Maybe I'm out of touch with pad prices but it looks like these would come in at nearly £500 for fronts and rears in the UK which seems like a lot to me?

Yes...Much easier to modulate the brakes without any grabbiness but just as much stopping power and better feel. IMHO:-)

Installed these pads a few hundred miles ago and they are legit. They have a progressive brake feel, definitely less grabby and much less dust than the OEM pads.
We have the exact same positive experience. I wish the car had come with the Hawk Ceramics from the factory.

I also just did the Hawk pads. Only got to put about 25 miles on them. Anyone else notice a lot of dust during break in?

Is the best place to buy these from hawk directly? Googling shows certain stores have some discounts.
I'm planning on buying multiple sets, discounts would be welcomed :)
