The Enhance/Protect options

The lifetime guarantee on the paint shine seems like a mistake. One, there's not a car protection company on the planet that will guarantee their products for life, and two, will they still come out in 30 years time and apply a new coating for free?

You could essentially not wash your car, drive it through mud, leave it in the rain, etc etc... then call up (is that how it works?) and say that the lustre has gone. Will they book you in at the next available time, or send someone out to assess? Who decides what's an acceptable amount of "lustre"?

Even the best coatings (eg: Kamikaze) require maintenance and will not last forever. And, as @digilotus says, a ceramic coating requires paint correction first, or you're just locking in the faults. I don't get it...

Perfect. I live down an off road track in the middle of the woods. I’m in 😂

I have GardX on my LR Disco Sport, its been pretty good so far, though nothing a stubborn stone can't chip through

The price is good, Especially considering it includes treating the seats and carpets

How good it is compared to other products I don’t know,

When I got my Tesla Y , I had a guy coat that in something called carbon collective molecule which is supposed to be one of the better ones and works well for 5 years, But you’re supposed to spray on a top up about every five or six months. He charged me only 300 quid (the stuff costs about 80 GBP for a small bottle), I was certain to use him again, now contemplating the Lotus offer, if it’s as advertised, it’s worth it

I’m sure that this stuff is going to be applied professionally and QC checked

One of my worries with the Seneca blue is that an aftermarket coating may slightly darken the colour, Which I wouldn’t want to happen

Has anyone asked their local dealer if they will be offering their own service plan. I was wondering if the new agreements they have with Lotus will allow this? It seems that Lotus have hiked the prices up when compared to the Evora and I can't understand what would drive the prices up. It is not as though the fancier interior will make servicing more expensive, with key components such as drivetrain etc very similar, I would expect pricing to be broadly similar. I do understand that there is the inevitable price inflation to factor in, but the increase seems beyond that.

I've just e.mailed my local retailer (Oakmere in Cheshire) to see if they are going to offer fixed priced servicing per year so I can see how it compares to the service plan cost (which seems expensive). Will post any info I get.
Has anyone else asked their local retailer the same?

I would expect that we receive the email this week

Update ..... No confirmed pricing available for year by year service costs, but the Lotus fixed price should apparently (according to what Lotus have advised dealers) offer a small saving against individual year by year costs. So it seems to be predominantly offered as a convenience product, by having those costs taken care of up front, rather than a significant saving. Having said that with the prosepect of contining/worsening high inflation, the fixed price gives a bit of an inflation hedge possibly?
Still seems expensive though compared to the Evora (see TomE's post no.16 earlier in this thread for price table), but it is what it is.

Me too, just as I got off the phone with a porsche dealer 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Oh Lotus, your timing is impeccable and yes indeed they are dangling that carrot.

Let's hope that checkout email comes....dare I say it.....SOON
Me too is the service plan worth it £1400 thought these cars were supposed to be relatively cheap to service how much do you save buying the plan ? - I usually buy these then don’t even use it 🤦‍♀️ but my plan is not keep changing cars - hoping I won’t become bored with it. Watch we’ll probably get the email later to tell us we’ve been delayed till Q1 2023 lol

If its a yearly service then I'd say yes,I think the evora 3rd year was like £800 alone (others can verify)

I'll be getting it,as if I do get the Emira, it will be for long term.

What are peoples thoughts on the cosmetic repair insurance?
Is it worth it?
Does it cover vandals / jealous individuals typical scratches?Stone chips etc?
I think I read that it did cover chips to be fair, could be worth it just for that

Thats running through my head too. BMW used to want £200 for an oil and filter change on my 2013 M3 , now its £360.

It probably makes financial sense to buy the package as prices for consumables are only heading one way, but the individual price seems cheaper then the overall package.

This from Lotus's Website, cunningly the 4th year service isn't included in the service pack price:

So Evora is £1160 if you just bought year on year v’s £1409 for Emira prices just going up and up with everything so wonder what they will be charging if you just bought year on year feels not a massive incentive. I remember when upfront service plans you did actually save quiet a bit - certainly did with Discovery 4 but now now in current model - changed the scheme

I think the crux will be if you can sell the car on with the plan attached. If you can then I would consider, otherwise not. Things happen

I had alloy wheel AND tyre insurance from Porsche and it was worth it for £300
If Lotus are charging 450 for each I will give it a firm miss.
Same with GAP you can always get cheaper online
Same with cosmetic (be better putting into PPF or ceramic)
The Lotus ceramic looks interesting as it states for the lifetime of ownership... So you could get it reapplied for free every 3 years if that is the case. Id want to read all the small print though

The service plan transfers with the car.

Had my enhance & protect email. Has anyone or is anyone planning on selecting any of them?

Hi, no i didn't select any of these from Lotus. There is a company 2 miles from me called Autoshine & Tinting who specialises in PPF, Ceramic coatings etc, so i will be getting it done there. They have already had an Emira in so have put together a number of packages together for the car.

I've moved this from the 30d notification thread to this thread with previous discussion of the various options.

In most cases, for ceramic coating and PPF you'll get a better result by using a local specialist (dealers often have preferred ones) rather than have the factory (= BCA) doing it.

Most of the insurances can be found cheaper elsewhere if you want them. The service plan looks expensive compared to equivalent Evora servicing costs, although we haven't seen published Emira servicing costs yet.

Thanks Tom.

Yeah I did think that the service pack looked quite expensive. Does anyone know of a PPF specialist in Oxfordshire? I’ve never owned a car worth enough to PPF before! There is Autowax on Bicester Heritage but they are quoting from £1650 + VAT for a “performance” coverage. I don’t know if that is a good price or not

Getting replacement parts and having warranty work done is going to be a nightmare anyway. I'm glad there's a new dealer opening much closer to me, but still extremely concerned about something like a replacement windshield or simple warranty repair taking 6+ months. With my luck I'll need something fixed the first month I take delivery and then not able to drive my Emira all spring/summer.
Wait, what? Is there a dealership opening in DE/MD area?
