The inevitable faster Emira

As speculated, there will be no more development of the V6 and orders are winding down. I’d imagine it won’t be long before it’s formally discontinued. It’s all about AMG now.

Reliable source?
Base v6 has all been accounted for?

Source was guide on the factory tour. Most of the cars being produced on the day, were i4. V6 NOT discontinued. I didn’t say it was. I asked if there would be further development, as they have previously offered that engine and gearbox with more power. He stated no. I think it must be easier to manufacture the car with one engine and the AMG is it. We all suspected as much but it’s a shame the v6 doesn’t look as though it will receive a ‘last hurrah’

I don’t know either, but I can speculate. The original post was ‘the inevitable faster Emira’. We know that the V6 is fairly limited, in terms of increasing the BHP. The best you could ever get in an Evora with the same engine was 430. Considering that Lotus produced a 400, 410 and 430, suggests to me that Lotus feel that 430 is the limit for that engine. Yes, I know JUBU and others offer higher outputs, but only with some fairly extensive internal changes and there’s potential issues with the gearbox as well. The i4 of course has been released in some markets with 400 BHP. Add all this up and for me, if it is inevitable that Lotus release a faster Emira, then I suspect it’s more likely to be a version of the i4. You then have to ask the question, would they continue with the V6, if they had a more powerful Emira with the i4 engine? For me logic suggests the i4 or at best, they’ll do a 430 V6, but my money is on the i4 with the V6 discontinued.

I have no information either way and I’m not that interested to be honest as the current manual V6 is pretty perfect for what I want. But the above would be my attempt at looking at it logically.

Why would the guy giving a guided tour know anything about the strategy from the executive team?

My bet is, that the V6 gets phased out (maybe with a final edition or so) but there will be a new variant next to the AMG, maybe a hybrid?

It is a fairly small operation, but who knows? They build in shifts for specific regions. So the floor may have been building cars for China, which would all be i4. I'm fairly confident we'll see a more powerful V6 Emira down the road.

But they heard from a reliable source….. 😂

Wasn't Lotus going to discontinue all petrol engined cars come 2026 after? A faster patrolled Emira would be nice, but isn't that all kind of hear say as of now? I mean with Lotus stocks failing, what is the possibility (realistically) that we see an upgraded version of the Emira? From what I've gathered all Chinese car companies are all headed towards EV (BYD tech destroying Teslan spec wise, and the the Eletcre having some impressive features) I'm not so sure if Lotus will push out ab upgraded version of the current Emira. Lest it is. at least a hybrid from what others have said on the thread. I mean, they're having enough problems pushing out current orders for the V6 and I4 lol

The Euro 7 emissions standard is currently due to come into force in 2026 and car manufacturers selling cars in Europe will be required to meet this new standard - which will no doubt be stricter than Euro 6. Anyone know if the V6 lotus spec engine will comply with Euro 7? If not then Lotus will have to discontinue (or significantly modify) the V6 after the end of this year, at least in Europe. Originally Euro 7 was due to come into force in 2025 but was delayed to 2026. This might explain the mixed messages regarding the V6 end date and dropping the V6 in favour of the 4 cylinder turbo.

There's been discussion that after orders are submitted for 2025 V6 production for the European market, the remaining inventory of V6 engines will be allocated for the US in 2026.

There is no way Lotus gives up the opportunity to charge a premium for a few final edition stickers / a rare color / increase BHP on the V6 to 410-430 and charge 30K more. Expect to see a final edition V6 limited production number car in the future. Easy money.
