End of the Emira V6 order is now confirmed to be Feb 2025

Today I got a call from the dealer. Looks like V6 order books should open again (for the first time after the FE) this year. (Switzerland)

looks like they didnt sell the i4 well in europe, you can actually get a new i4 with 20%+ off. Lotus knows this and they will come up with a solution. If the Toyota V6 runs out (which it might does) I bet there will come something different.

The V6 Emira is the only Lotus product where the demand is exceeding supply. The i4's are sitting unsold on dealer showrooms and the electric offerings are all but dead. So Yea! Lotus is going to keep making the V6.

but you have to get your v6 order in right away! They are going to stop making them... 🤣

All this while multiple visitor to Hethel have been told to expect V6 production to end by 2026!
Sure but that's almost two years from now! In the long run, everything on earth is eventually ending.

If i4 demand is weak, and the TYP 135 has been delayed, Lotus will certainly look for ways to extend V6 production for as long as possible.

To be fair, this logic absolutely tracks with how they have played things over the last few years... 😑

The will open base ordering or the rest of the world once they get US order quantity and know how many engine they have left. Base production for the rest of the world will begins by the end of 25 and through part of 26.. As I have said for a long time.. It's not Lotus's decision. It's Toyota's. I'm so glad that I picked up my orphaned FE V6 manual as my original plan was to get a final production run in 27/28.

They need to get a fresh round of press reviews with the 400hp i4. It's the superior car in every respect except not being a stick shift. As a 2024 718S owner that have also driven the GTS 4.0. it's superior to both of their PDK variant.

Lotus on pulling the plug on the v6…

They haven't done it yet. They may do it. If this doesn't work out, probably they will do it. They would almost say definitely. 😂

It has been widely reported that Toyota is no longer making this engine. Even if this is the Emira configuration highest in demand, Toyota is simply done and won't make more. In the end the number of V6 Emiras for Lotus to sell is dependent on how many of these engines have been stashed away. I highly doubt that Lotus is storing 5,000 Toyota V6 engines somewhere, I could see something like 1,000......maybe????.........either way the end is near.

I dont like to put out random rumors but the dealer that told me order books for base models will open soon (in switzerland) said there will be only a limited number/orders available and once these are done there will come something different but also with 6 cylinders but he didnt have any further details (new V6? hybrid? Something else?).

I have absolutely no idea if this is legit or not…

No it hasn't. There have been rumours on this forum which get repeated over and over again as if they were fact. When I did an AI search on discontinuing the 2FE engine, it sourced information from this forum! :D

Show me one credible source that says Toyota has stopped making the 2FE engine. Just one.

Can someone speculate on how many V6 manuals have been. shipped to US?

There’s a difference between Toyota no longer offering the V6 in the Camry, and discontinuing the engine entirely. I think folks are mistakenly connecting the two.

This!
Noone knows if Toyota keeps on building the V6 for Lotus. They might, they might not. I believe IF they stop making the engine (for Lotus), its out of emission regulations that are getting too strict and not that they dont use it in the camry anymore.

We‘ll see. Either way I do believe it will come to an end with the V6.

I do think emissions regulation is the most probable cause for stopping the v6. I don’t know when they change and how they impact existing models but if lotus can’t figure it out, then they can’t even buy the engine anymore.

I think some people conflate the regulations and restrictions in their own part of the world with the entire world.

There’s a big old world out there, and what may restrict things in your corner of it means nothing for the rest of it.
