USA/Canada Delivery Thread

I'm in the same date range (early base situation) as you. There's a thread that says what the 7 additional colors are but not anything definite on what they look like...much less how anything else looks on the base. They've also removed the base model pricing from the configurator. I expect the base model with a few options on it to be over the 93k cost of a FE now.
Since Lotus cant seem to build cars smoothly now they should consider just extending the FE builds to base customers to streamline production. (less options to sort on the assembly line) Take the FE badging off to let FE customers feel special.
My dealer told me to expect to order around May and an unrealistic arrival date of the fall. No way Ill see the car until 2024.
Would be nice if they uploaded the base model configurator....probably soon.
The Base configurator including extra colours and the options pricing is currently forecast to be released in early Q2. But like many things Emira, that date has been delayed several times already.

I spoke with my sales rep this week. He told me that I am looking at about this time next year for delivery - to be realistic. (I am an Aug. 2021 deposit - but not FE). Most interesting was that he told me to expect 7 new colors, and that the FE colors are likely to be "premium colors" on the base model. Also suggested Lotus will price base model such that virtually everything will be an option. Not sure this is new news to everyone else, but it was to me.
Appreciate the update. I gave my deposit late last year and was told delivery late 2024. Based upon your deposit date, if you do get yours around this time next year, late next year for me seems reasonable, but I'm accepting it may be early to mid 2025. Again, I appreciate the updates all the members have been providing.

I asked the same thing, but they refused to let it leave port until it was replaced! I guess they felt they needed to deliver the car "right". I was irritated at the time, but the pain was soon forgotten when the car arrived. I kind of feel that way about the FE delivery. I'd love to have it now, but I know it'll be fine once I get it!

Depending on where the damage took place, it might be an insurance issue with the carrier or whatever company/union loaded/unloaded the car, or the port operators. In those cases, they don't release the car until everything is confirmed fixed. If they deliver the car and it suffers a failure, or if additional damage was found, it would be on BMW, and BMW does not want that potential headache.

Pumped, what’s your c8 spec?
I’ve passed over a C8 Stingray twice while I have waited for the Emira, so now that the E-RAY has been revealed I’ll go for that variant.

- coupe
- red mist metallic tintcoat (probably)
- ZER performance package
- red calipers (as long as they match the exterior paint)
- black carbon fiber wheels
- carbon fiber ground effects package
- black exhaust tips
- red engine cover
- 3LZ trim package
- jet black interior with red stitching
- leather competition seats
- red seat belts (depends on shade of red)
- stealth interior trim package

I’m at the top of the list at my dealer because I’ve waited 3 years while the auto industry has gone crazy, including Lotus, so I should definitely get an early allocation.

I’d love to still get an Emira, but it just seems too far off, still. Plus with what is shaping up to be a car with too many issues, I’m best to move on.

PS: I just ordered my E-RAY license plate.

Look on the bright side, when they stuck the forklift through the side of the crate they only hit the wheel and not the body of the car. 🤣

Received today via email:

“Thanks for reaching out. You are correct, production for Emira for US/Canada was due to start in January however our cars were not loaded for assembly. As of today, we have been told to expect an update from the factory early next week.

We’ll keep everyone posted.

Will they keep us posted though?

hypothetically, what if somehow said Head of US Sales' e-mail address was shared in this forum? We could hypothetically put some collective pressure on these higher ups...hypothetically 👼

We really need an eye rolling reaction emoji on this forum, e.g.:

I mean, it's pretty easy to Google.

Right? Took me 2 minutes to find (along with a list of nearly everyone else at Lotus of US and their contact info). But let's be careful about posting any personal information here.... We want to be respectful and avoid doxxing.

Fun fact from their public profile though.. the current Head of Sales was with Lotus for nearly 7 years from 2008-2015 and then spent some time as a sales manager for Lamborghini. Wonder what lured him back to Lotus ~2 years ago.

Cryptic. What does that even mean they weren't loaded. Because someone forgot, because the car loader was out sick, because they slotted others due to previous delays, because they shifted priorities, .... Given that they were at HQ a couple weeks ago, they would have known then as it would be hard to believe two weeks ago US builds were still on track and then bam at the last minute it was changed. I know I'm just preaching to the choir but why in bloody 'tarnation can they not give timely, meaningful comms.

probably because they themselves don't actually know exactly when US production will start.... Just a guess, but based on a few other "issues" threads on here, they are going to want to sort some issues out before sending them stateside. Last they thing they want is US media/you tubers trying out cars that need ECU/software upgrades. We are very critical against any non US product, they know this and will be wary of sending out Emira's with known issues to be sorted.

It's either disappoint us early depositors (again), or botch the whole US launch with unsorted cars.... I know which I would choose.

You're right. Any glitches and our highly vaunted automotive "journalist" corp will crucify them.

I have said this else where, but the longer I have to wait the longer I am alive as I have accepted that I did not place a deposit on a car but I preordered my casket.

Sentiment like that is likely why so many have ruminated on seat position/bolsters and headroom. It also might explain the cupholder amenities as you enjoy the passing lane.

No one would fault Lotus for pulling back to sort issues but always better to control the narrative vs let it spin out of control ... which is what they have been doing for .... ever. Tell the bad news early to show transparency and over communication to build trust. Then you have the supporters on your side.
