USA/Canada Delivery Thread

Referring to #2 in line at that particular dealer for V6 FE 1.0 I think. You guys really should just stop with all this 1.0, 2.0 shit it's confusing the hell out of everyone.
The only reason 1.0 and 2.0 is being used is because Lotus said it and it refers to the 1st original 700 allocations to NA or the 2nd set of allocations. At this point we don't believe dealers even know how many 2nd batch FE's they are getting, and no orders have been taken. I don't think there is much confusion between the 2, 1 is "sold out", came in 7 colors, and $11,500 cheaper, the other one will be available to order soon.

Ok followed up with them and was told,

“If you have ordered should see car March or April 2024.”

So take everything I posted with a big grain of salt. To be honest I don’t think any of the dealers have any useful info until they actually get word that cars are being delivered.

Sorry for any worry or confusion just trying to relay what was told.

It is not like me at all, but I am beyond excited for something what-used-to-be-normal. Only 12 days left for my first test drive of the Emira, it will actually be the first time I will see it in the flesh. I feel like a teenager who is after his very first car.

What I am told about allocations is that each US dealer will have between 10-15 slots of FE2.0, I think that's for the whole model year '24. I think we are all grabbing onto any somewhat-sane speculation. We'll find out when we actually see a few deliveries.

I'm staying away. I'm going to maintain the anticipation until I go pickup the car... soon.

Something to look forward to.
Ask the Lotus Rep attending about timetable for FE 2.0 allocations per dealer. Whether the larger dealers with the longest deposit lists will get proportionately more than the newest ones. When will the build order book open?
We are all starving for news.
Thanks in advance!

I think Lotus will marginally give more to the larger dealers. They are trying to open more US dealers and push into new markets, especially with the EV SUV push. My guess is they will split them out fairly even (obviously more to the larger guys). But it won't be split 50 to one dealer and 3 to another, IMO. These new dealers have spent money and I am sure Lotus will want to give them cars to sell. I expect a fairly even distribution +/- 15% more allocations for the guys with larger lists.

I would imagine it will be or should be the case as @Lotustoronto describes. The dealership network is so sparse, each one covers a relatively large potential market. I would guess that if a dealership turns down allocations, then they may get fewer. My dealership appears to be relatively strict about taking deposits and putting people on their list, I suspect they don't want to commit more than what they are almost sure will sell. Have one less than projected sale ;)

I’m wondering if all depositors will be offered the opportunity to purchase a vehicle. Looking at the timing and the amount of depositors and the global demand vs Lotus actual capacity and vehicle lineup. It doesn’t look like there’s any way possible.

Guessing the lawsuits would start flowing given they held on to people’s money for three years.

The fact that North America is receiving around 1,600 cars in 2024 (so they say) or about 30-40% of their annual production should tell you something. If they are in fact aiming to have an EV sports car introduced in 2026 or so, I imagine that they will not fully satisfy global demand for the Emira. Which I think is their goal in the first place.

My guess is N/A dealers will stop taking deposits on the Emira by the end of 2024 / early 2025 at the latest. Unless there is a massive drop off / cancellations. UK market is a bit different. Also they just started Chinese orders for the i4 and going forward I imagine that demand will also be fairly high.

The early depositors will get their Emira's. With A LOT of patience. It's the people that deposited this year and going forward that I am not so sure. There will always be some on the pre-owned market anyway. I would assume the dealers padded their lists and gave some allocations to flipper customers. Which means above MSRP for the people getting in late as I don't think they will make enough for everyone. Not all dealers will do this, but best believe it will happen. Just like GT Porsche cars or Z06 Vette.

I think Lotus will announce when the order books are going to close in each country, rather than tell some depositors afterwards that they won't get a car. I know that's how they are going to do it in the UK. They may not be much notice, maybe only a few weeks. I suspect it will be from late 2023 or early 2024.

This has all been a nerve-wracking grand guessing game, as those in the know aren't talking.
What does that perspective mean for the Base Edition, said to be announced mid 2024?

And they’re already delivering Emira V6 to Korea and I read the first customer Electra made delivery last week. Three vehicles, two factories, global demand. The NA market already has more depositors than the entire 10 yr production of the Evora.

Do you have an email from LotusCarsUSA titled something like this: Lotus Emira Order Entry: Approved Entry for ID######? My order was submitted 5/14/2022 and confirmed on 5/16/2022. If you were actually able to place an order with Lotus than you should have a locked 1.0 build as no other orders have been placed as far as I am aware.

I never got an email with that title. Should I be concerned?

I've really only received one email from Lotus Cars USA, which was titled "Your Lotus Emira Order Update" from August 11, 2022 announcing a delay. It had a 6-digit reference number on it at the bottom of the email. Maybe that's my order ID?

So, I was wondering the same thing, and I'm in the same boat as you, i.e. only received one email from Lotus Cars USA on Aug 11 '22 announcing production delays, with a 6-digit reference number at the bottom.

Well, I was at my dealership this past Saturday to check out their new demo Emira, and I asked if I they'd received any emails from Lotus indicating that they've received my order, and a number to track it with. He said that the reference number at the bottom of the Aug 11th delay announcement is my order ID.

I'm there again this Tuesday for a test drive, so maybe I'll ask him why some depositors got a "Approved entry for ID ######" email and others didn't.

Could you possibly share a screenshot of said email? I want to ask my dealer about it this week.

I think you are correct that the reference number on the 8/11/22 email is your order number as it matches my order. I believe the email is from Lotus to your specific dealer, however I don't think all dealers cc'd the email to their customers. Here is the order email I received.

Tom, I agree with the books closing earlier than I predicted. However, if the rumour of allocations being given based on the deposit numbers per dealer in N/A, I can see some dealers taking as many deposits as possible even if they know it won’t get filled. I think we are now heading into this scenario. I’ve talked to a couple people this weekend that have Emira deposits at a Porsche event in Toronto, (both at Gentry) and they told me the list is well over 250. Best guess they had was 30 Emira’s to be delivered to that dealer in 2024 and maybe 40-50 in 2025 and so on.

This would indicate most dealers already have 4 years of production in deposits. Extending the list going forward gives them a good indication and names to call to offer above MSRP cars from “cancelled” orders. (Flippers)

Lotus Cars USA would be smart to close the order books sooner rather than later at this point.
