USB port near rear view mirror is intermittent

That's a Blendmount. I have a Blendmount in my Emira as well for my Escort detector. Not cheap but very high quality and so much better than the suction cup mounts.
I do have a blend mount for the Evora. Will that one work for the Emira. If so then need to order another one.
Did not see one on their website for the Emira

Which mirror tap did you use?

I used the smallest tap in this set https://a.co/d/dhfO3ZW for my redline 360c

Thanks for those pics! Right now I'm planning to use the 5v to 12v step up USB connector. If it produces the same intermittent issues, I'll go to a mirror tap.

💪🏼

Cool yeah that is definitely easier. My redline was working properly with the usb port but I just didn’t like the bulkiness. Mirror tap is cleaner and saves the usb port for other things.

Is there a trick to removing the rear view mirror housing? I can't quite figure it out.

manual says to release 2 clips from the bottom center cover but they are just tabs, not clips.

I got it by prying from the top circled in red here

Then pry down from each corner to remove the larger piece.

This was super helpful. I couldn't find any clips or tabs anywhere visible. Per your guidance, I just got my fingers under the section in the red circle and pulled and eventually it popped loose. I hate removing pieces like this as I always feel like I'm going to break them. The second part comes off pretty easy just pushing upwards.

Interesting note...I tapped into the green connector as did others and the Radar + Camera STAY ON even after I turn off and lock the car. I thought this was an ignition-controlled feed? I'll test more later when I have time but so far it seems to be constant on.

I’m not the most happy person or diy
If i tried to do that it’s 100% certain I would break something.
So got the dealership to hard wire it for me.
Edit not happy was meant to be not handy lol

Ok so it's not constant on but there's some sort of timer. I waited several minutes and it remained on. Tonight when I got home I set a timer for 20 minutes to check on it and when I went out to the garage it was off. So somewhere between about 5-20 minutes it finally powers off.

This is good for me because I really don't want to have to bother with unplugging it or turning it off manually every time the car is going to be parked for awhile for fear of draining the battery. I'm sure eventually it would've happened to me.

The mirror tap method is very nice and clean.

After a couple hundred miles, I've switched from the converter to the mirror tap. My unit cut out a few times during hard driving. It didn't seem to be from the voltage, but more from the usb connection not being really solid. I could wiggle it and it would cut out. So, I went with the tried and true 12v tap. Quick and easy and no more worries.
