Video shows parking lot packed with Emiras

I am going to Hethel for pick up on the 13th April - I’ll have a look round the car park if I am allowed and see how many autos I can spot and LHD vs RHD.
Look for North American spec Emiras... Headlamps should have amber/orange vertical reflectors within the outer edge of the housings.

I believe someone mentioned they took this down and it's not visible on the tour anymore.
That's a shame. For those that are curious, here is what the status board showed in October '22 when Harry did his factory tour video. The daily figures were pretty low back then, which was before a second shift was added.

@Emirahep assuming you do the factory tour when you go to pick up your car, please check out their production status board where they indicate number of cars produced vs. their target. I saw it in the Harry’s Garage video when he picked up his car. I’m sure we’d all like to know their current rate of production, which I’ve heard is around 15 cars per day., as well as total number produced to date.
I will do ! If it is still there…

I commented on the video to say that I hoped my V6 auto was somewhere in the car park and he replied "About 25% of the cars were autos and 25% left hand drive"

I would say check both the daily and year to date Out figures (plan and actual). On that October date, the daily plan was 8 and the actual as of midday when the video was shot was 3. I’ve heard the current daily plan is 15 - 17. The year to date actual back then was around 25% of plan, which the Lotus MD confirmed in his discussion with Harry. Their hope was that in 2023 they would be able to achieve much closer to the plan production rates.

Emirahep, any updates? Hope your handover when good!

Yes handover went well. See updates on my new thread Manual DV collected from Hethel (sorry, I don’t know how to insert a link).

I did remember one additional bit of detail regarding the rows of mainly right hand drive cars parked outside the factory - many had coloured 12 o clock markers on their steering wheels.

Shame that wasn’t an option for me as I would have loved a yellow one on my spec !

Moderator note: link added

So no USA spec cars seen? That's a bummer. Congrats BTW!

Coloured steering wheel marker would suggest they are all Autos. Not available as an option on the manuals sadly.

How did it go? Were your visit and car perfect? Did you spot many cars in the car park, and did you see any production count screens?

I posted some data from my factory pick up on another thread last week. Copied again here for ease of reference;

Data I gleaned on production numbers from factory tour today.

No photos allowed so from careful observation and making a few notes;

At 11am the big screens were counting down the time to move car 12 to the next station

The big screen from Harry’s video is there but doesn’t have much data on it but if you look closely in the bottom left in tiny font in says “number of cars this shift” and at 1100 today that said 41. But I don’t know when the shift started !

They are running two shifts Gold and Black. One starts early the other starts late. Don’t know exact timings. Also sometimes a twilight shift if they get a load of parts in.

Some cars have visible numbers on bits of masking tape e.g. where the nose badge will go. The highest number I saw was 1055. Saw numbers ranging from 981 to 1055.

A number of 5000 a year was mentioned.

I saw a few i4 engines but no built cars.

Didn’t spot any autos (but couldn’t get close to most of the cars) nor any built i4s.

I also looked out for US cars but didn’t spot any. Majority of finished cars in the parking outside the factory were right hand drive.

Did see two Eletres though - one in camo but a black one we got close to. Big car and quite dramatic up close !

And second post;

Another bit of data from my notes - target for Gold shift 15 cars. Target for Black shift 19 cars. That fits with @Drlonline data.

Couple of things to add;

Handover and factory tour excellent
Car good except had a defect in paint on bonnet - Lotus jumped on it and replaced it. Only possible at factory I guess !

Lots of cars in car park. I would say 50-70% had 12 o clock markers and so based on what @TomE has said they are probably autos.

Didn’t spot any US cars. Nor built i4s although did see 4 wrapped i4 engines.

Thanks for all the info (this and the above posts). Sounds very promising overall. So looks like we have turned a corner on delays and now it's down to just waiting for your slot, not waiting for parts, regulations or other issues. I should be able to check out in June, so not long to go now!

Cheers for the detail!
