US I4 (400hp) has fake engine noise pumped through speakers

We need someone to develop a "Bimmercode" light for the Emira. There are a number of coding changes that would be nice to make. Several people have reached out to multiple vendors that provide coding services but none of them have shown interest. I'm sure the Lotus service software could turn this off, if they know what module, etc. to access.

Ok...the harness going into the black amp has a green wire. Snip that green wire and terminate it. FIXED!

100% fixed, no fake engine noise, no fake exhaust noise. Does not affect anything in the car, turn signal sounds work, phone microphone works.

This is GREAT news. Go forth and snip. My aftermarket system is working properly now, sounds amazing.

So - how does the car sound without augmentation ? (with the entertainment system off)

There is no exhaust drone at all, in any mode. The engine sounds like a 2L 4 cylinder. My car has a stock drivetrain, and coming is sport cat/dp, exhaust with switch, and my shop will work on an intake. I primarily just want to hear the turbo and induction noise, rest is gravy :) But I MUCH prefer without Gran Turismo 1 sounds (not to disrespect GT1 lol)

You legend.

Hoping you'll document the effects of your future mods!

Yes the audio shop did that in case we needed to reconnect
Absolutely awesome Kaz! Do you know if there happens to know the path the wire goes to throughout the vehicle? I would love to be able to grab the wire somewhere easier to access to snip it without so much interior disassembly to see if I am happy with the change in sound. Thanks a bunch!!!

I'll ask shop I don't think there's any easier path...maybe take wheel liner off and access the ecm module? But all those wires are bundled up and routed underneath everything. It's just user preference but even just getting rid of the exhaust drone (which no one in the outside world even hears) makes this a no brainer.

Nice work, Kaz. Do we know yet if the V6 is affected?

I take zero credit the guys at FS Audio already knew exactly what to do, they were just happy there weren't any microphones to deal with in the engine bay.

I doubt the V6 has this issue it seems it's all just part of the AMG platform, plus we haven't read any complaints re: aftermarket sound system installations

I would really appreciate asking them. Maybe they or someone has access to the vehicle's entire wiring harness diagram and I can spend my time(to help everyone) hunting the wire down in the kick panel or such.

Also, if you feel like it and have a minute, it would be great to hear a recording of how the car sounds (with the radio off). Thanks a bunch!

Video in the first post has on and off and I'll ask them but they didn't bother with the cars wiring they just tested all the wires going into the amp - your service center may be able to get you wiring diagrams that's who sent the diagram earlier in thread

Another, probably stupid, question - but if that additional frequency is being pumped into the amp, does that mean our music isn't getting all the boost it could be getting from the amp? Additionally, snipping the wire could mean we would get a better volume control with the music? (i.e. we wouldn't have to get to half volume on the knob to have a decent level on the music)

Thank you, this is great news. I know you had a couple of other threads on the sound deadening, etc., but the pics there didn't make it obvious. At your leisure, can you post a pic that shows the general location of the amp and this harness (if you even have one handy)? Trying to figure out if I'm brave enough to start disassembly.
