Paint Protection Film (PPF) and Wrap for your Emira

Must be luck of the Irish.
Just two days ago a truck decides to pass me before an on ramp and cuts right in front of me spraying rocks all over my hood and cracking my windshield. Absolutely zero chance I will not ppf

I really had my mind set on a green car. I’m infatuated with Porsche Irish green. DV ended up to dark for me and I ordered Nimbus. I found a wrap that is very close to Irish green. I know color wrap is thinner than PPF. It still will work to a certain level to protect my paint. My only hesitation is I know they usually remove parts to install the film. I have concerns about removed items being reinstalled correctly. Is this a valid concern or is it just paranoia?

For PPF, I ask the installer to roll the edges where possible. No removal of parts and I will live with PPF edges if I have to.

I don't think that should be your major concern. I think being satisfied with the wrap outcome is the major one. I've a few friends (Porsche owners) that literally threw 5k+ to the trash a month after installation since they were unhappy with the outcome. They were OK with the installation work. Thank you for that perspective. Was it just the plastic look or was it more? Like bubbles or edges? I have never had a car wrapped so I’m kind of clueless and on the fence.
A wrap is heat applied and much thinner but more flexible in the application..but more prone to stretching if applied badly. Also, wrapped cars are a bit more like a car with a bad orange peel effect and the clarity is washed out. It will also chip easier and does not 'self heal' like PPF

Does anyone have any guide prices for ceramic coating in the UK… For coating the car in Modesta my local guy is quoting a little of £1k with the prep work… feels overpriced to me.

Yeah, get wheels done at the same time. Makes a big difference.
You should be looking at £750 - £1000 depending on PPF quality and their depth of preparation.

I would go for the ones that I believed were utter perfectionists and I don't mind paying 10% more for that.

In conjunction with the cosmetic repair insurance at the same price again which allows for 18 SMART repairs over 36 months?
Both of those together will be enough for me.
Anyone prone to kerbing alloys (or maybe choosing diamond cut!) can add the wheel insurance at £229 (18 claims in 3 years too) but the cover isn't that great on that one at £125 max per claim or £150 towards a replacement wheel if a skim repair can't be done.....
Will a ceramic coating like the GardX CX2 Ceramic Paint Protectionofffered by lotus stop the black roof getting scratched do you think?

Black is always the most difficult to maintain. However it being a roof will not be as visible since you will always be at a shallow angle towards it. Also, as long as you use correct washing techniques, you should be fine. You will pick up very fine swirls just from normal washing but that won't be visible under most conditions.
The black rockers, should be PPF'd.
From talking to some detailers, GardX is not as well respected product compared to other brands. But I think it really depends on who is applying this to the car. I have a guy that uses a product called Carbon Collective molecule, supposed to be one of the better products, it costs about 80GBP for a small bottle. He charged me 350 GBP to coat my Tesla Y, will probably be similar for the lotus, maybe a little extra to coat interior and seats

I had my front end done last week. It's definitely worth it for avoiding chips. All of my Lotuses have had it. Supposedly Xpel film is the best.
