I am wrapping my Evora GT with carbon as soon as I get it back, I think @ $100K the Evora black pack is a cheap alternative…I am even contemplating painting the roof the body color, just embarrassing!Hi there,
I want to warm up this thread again with a (potentially controversial) idea.
I have decided to PPF my Emira all around with XPEL. I am already in touch with a company here in Germany that is offering PPF. The guy I talked to was already taking measures from the Emira (at Komotec) and is ready to make specific offers (I'll keep you posted once I have more info).
My Emira will be Hethel Yellow with full black back. After having starred at a Seneca Blue Emira with full black pack for about 5 minutes at the Komotec dealership my eyes swept over to an Exige with a carbon roof standing next to the Emira. The I started to wonder whether I could/should wrap all the glossy black parts of the Emira with Carbon fibre PPF and the rest of the car (the yellow parts) with regular transparent PPF.
I brought up the idea with the above-mentioned PPF guy and he confirmed that there is pretty high quality Carbon fibre PPF (glossy only since matt is not very durable and not self-healing like the XPEL stuff).
Now I am wondering whether I should wrap my car all around with transparent PPF or wrap the glossy black parts with carbon fibre PPF. I also have the Diamond cut wheels which have a dark grey tone which I thought may go well with carbon fibre optics. I also think that some of the glossy black parts look a bit cheap, e.g. the air intakes behind the doors. I will be receiving a Carbon fibre PPF sample soon and I'll share a picture of it here as well then.
I am interested in your thoughts and opinions on this. Maybe someone has already created a photoshopped picture of how carbon instead of glossy black paint would look on the Emira (preferably on a Hethel Yellow one)
@Leonard , any specific reasoning for your position? Do you think it looks bad, isnt durable, …Only one thing worse than fake carbon parts and that's fake carbon wrap!
All in my humble opinion of course
Edited to add: I do have it on my Yaris roof and it upsets me on a daily basis (especially as there is a carbon roof underneath....)
It's just what Toyota did. Think they thought customers wouldnt like the look of forged carbon maybe. Or maybe something to do with protecting it from UV@Leonard , any specific reasoning for your position? Do you think it looks bad, isnt durable, …
Have you had bad experiences with carbon wraps?

Thanks for that additional context. I am actually not decided at all, hence asking for inout on the forum. I will wait to receive the carbon sample and see hot it looks. It's just what Toyota did. Reason I don't like fake carbon is because it does the opposite of real carbon ie just adds weight. And ot does look fake as well, which again does the opposite of carbon and cheapens how something looks.
Personally I'd just clear wrap it. But I respect your opinion and taste. Everyone's different ❤
I guess the big question is, how much from Topaz...?I used to own an Elise 111s and had a few stone chips on the front end not bad enough to get repaired you couldn’t see them from a few feet but noticeable every time I cleaned itso when I get my Emira it’s going to get delivered to Topaz detailing for full PPF and ceramic coating, They said it will take about a week to complete and they got the template pattern ready, I have kept Topaz updated on the lotus postponements and Topaz have been great. So I just got to wait for lotus to update me on the car, I was an August build pushed out to October but I may be Q2 next year. The car is Magma red with full black pack and automatic. I have sciatica and operating a clutch is literally a pain in the butt so no manual for me. I haven’t driven a manual for 9 years so probably forgotten how

I dont have the money to burn unfortunately. It depends what you want, for what I am getting £5.5k , give them a call they may do you a deal
For reference, I think Topaz wanted about 2.5K for just the front and sills when I asked. This was months ago though, back when I thought I was getting a car in Spring, so it may well have changed since, although what @Tonygcar quotes sounds about the same as they quoted for the full car.I dont have the money to burn unfortunately.
Just thought it would be useful for folk to be able to compare whats out there to who are probably considered the best in class in UK
When I went to Topaz to look at their setup and procedures I was really impressed they had high end cars there Ferrari’s, a mclaren and a few porche’s having PPF, They wrap around the edges of the panels very skilful. ( the PPF panel pattern is slightly larger so it can be smoothed around the edges ) so you get no lines or dirt trapped underneath the edge giving a black line wherever the PPF ends and may peel back as you wash and polish the car, check their website and YouTube it will be explained a lot better there. I spoke to them today with another postponement until may23 deliveryI'm definitely considering the PPF/ceramic route on my Emira, but have quite some time to come to a conclusion on that front!
@Tonygcar The quote you've mentioned from Topaz is good to know as a ballpark for thinking ahead, especially seeing as they've just opened up shop in Leeds which will be a tad more convenient for me than London or Bristol!
Holy crap . . . £6,000! I know Topaz is the go-to for supercars in the UK, but that's crazy money for PPF.I've had a price from Topaz and full car is £5400 but an extra £600 for the rear diffuser.
They're not the cheapest by any stretch of the imagination but I've used them several times in the past and the quality of the workmanship is second to none and because I'm really fussy about these things I'd rather pay more for the best job.
Yeah, it’s certainly a lot of money at Topaz and everywhere in the UK as far as I’m aware. Like a say, there are cheaper offerings out there but I’ve seen some terrible jobs so a guess the peace of mind will be worth it for some.Holy crap . . . £6,000! I know Topaz is the go-to for supercars in the UK, but that's crazy money for PPF.
The shop I use in Sydney (one of the better local PPF installers) has quoted me A$4,500 for the whole car with SunTek Reaction. That's about £2,500.
That's cheap. Who was it with? The quote I got was A$7k for full SunTek ReactionHoly crap . . . £6,000! I know Topaz is the go-to for supercars in the UK, but that's crazy money for PPF.
