I was going to pick up my i4 today in Seattle and drive it home to Boise, but forecast in Seattle was heavy rain, then snow between Seattle and Boise so figured I should delay it. New date for pickup is February 8th. My sales guy sent me some photos of her to hold me over...I think that just makes the wait that much worse!

Honestly you'd be better off having them deliver it to you by covered carrier, that way it will arrive exactly like you see it in the pictures. It's a long drive from Seattle to Boise, and the weather and road conditions are uncertain right now. That's an 8 hour drive at best, and in a brand new car with an engine that hasn't been broken in yet. A covered carrier should run somewhere between $1,200-$1,500 delivered to you. Give them 2-3 days, and they'll deliver it to you before the 8th. Just a thought. Congrats on the new car!

I would wait and make the drive, it will be a great memory of taking delivery you will always remember. Keeping RPM under 4k is easy.

I've thought about that over and over, but this is the first time in my life. I've ever bought a vehicle for fun. That experience I feel is very ceremonious, plus my 19-year-old son wants to do it with me, so we are excited to go through the experience of picking it up and driving off the lot. I haven't bought a new car in 11 years, so looking forward to that side of it. We can always spend the night somewhere and wait until it clears.

Wanted to do the same thing with my 19yo, but timing didn't work out over Christmas break. Make sure to vary the RPM. As stated you want to keep an eye on the 4K mark, but I was advised the brake-in would be much better if the RPM was widely varied - and going over 4K for short bursts would be beneficial. In other words, more rev range is better on break-in. Did 1100 miles in 4 days - its awesome...(except the brake dust :D )

Mine has been sitting in garage in a bubble since it arrived 3 weeks ago and still feel I have
4 more weeks before I uncover it.. 1/10 mile to put in garage driving me crazy...
To much salt on roads and need rain to wash it away..
Enjoy the Emira what ever you decide ..

it is sitting in a garage, what's the bubble for? haha

my garage get lots of moisture at times with temperature changes and you come out
and looks like it was rained on.. So this keeps it dry and clean during these winter issues..
I admire your ability to delay gratification. With yesterday's rain washing away the road salt, I wasted no time getting my fun cars out this morning.

Better wait for what Paunxatawny Phil has to say.
It would complicate things if your Emira is Shadow Gray.

Sounds like an excellent plan; I am sure the wait will be worth it. I have been meaning to do the covered bridge tour. Several local car clubs have events in the fall and spring.

Few Pics .. Normally go up 4 times a year...But last years roads were damaged from floods and looks
like some repairs were being done late last fall.. they were really bad..
