A special treat coming ̷s̷o̷o̷n̷ ̷ ̶t̶o̶m̶o̶r̶r̶o̶w̶ sometime .... NOW LIVE :)

Latest update is Lotus have asked for the release to be postponed to Monday due to sequencing with other comms this/next week and some of their other comms having to be re-scheduled.

Will it definitely be Monday? I can't say. Will it be today or over the weekend? Definitely not.

Don't shoot the messenger!
There comes a time when people stop waiting and listening to news that is forever being re-scheduled. They simply tune out.

I can't even tell if you're joking or not at this point.

The Emira's entire existence at this point seems like it's a buy the rumor sell the news event... So they keep pushing out the news.

Omg when I said three pages ago you couldn’t make it up you really couldn’t. Come on is there some sort of back hander here?

Not for Ade or me. We could try offering one to Lotus to unlock the video :)

OK, given all the angst over this and the risk this is just going to turn into another thread full of woes, I’m going to lock the thread until we have concrete news on actual publication.

Maybe a time for some to take a break from the forum, enjoy the weekend and come back on Monday. Or just read the happy threads about customer and dealer deliveries.

Enjoy your weekends 😀

What a great review! Obviously some will question the overwhelming positivity vs what other’s who’ve been in the car have said (I wonder if the production car he had is significantly improved vs the demos….would be nice to get confirmation on that regarding gripes some test drivers have mentioned). But, from the standpoint that it was so thorough with and covered so many things and answered so many questions I’m grateful for the amazing job here!

I have my test drive on Wednesday, can’t wait - It will be the yellow one and not sure of the suspension. A couple little questions I still have are how the Seneca Blue looks in low light…remember in the early press it looked like bit deeper and that proved to be inaccurate - but it’s always shown in daylight and I wonder if it’s less Smurf blue in the shade or the evening. The other is I’m still very undecided on the suspension and tire setup which the test drive may help with. I think it’s a no brainer to go touring and Goodyear if it’s a daily driver, and sport and cup 2 if you have a few cars and it’s a track toy. Myself which I’m sure like many others will have the Emira as a second car in a manual in a busy city that will take it out primarily on weekends outside of rush hour traffic. May or may not take it on the track on occasion but do want the best version of the car for a spirited Sunday drive. Bad weather or rush hour, there’s my Mercedes cabriolet which will likely get replaced with an electric SUV (have early Eletre deposit). So my question is if I did go with the sport and cup 2….on the rare couple scenarios would it be a problem to take it out if I have the itch to drive it: 1) nice summer evening to a restaurant through city roads with forecast that it may be pouring on the drive home. 2) gorgeous blue sky Sunday morning in the winter with clear dry roads and temperature in the -5 to +5 degrees Celsius range. I’ll emphasize that likely 95% of the time this is a second car to be used primarily on nice summer days. But you never know with a car like this when the itch may strike to take it out in those scenarios - would you need to worry about safety and therefore not be able to use it and wish you’d gone with a more practical setup? Or would the feel and performance of the 95% usage outweigh the discipline to never take it out with the possibility of bad weather?

*edit - obviously sport suspension with Goodyear would alleviate potential safety issues, but not sure how well that combo works for those who’ve driven the car in that config vs just getting the touring with Goodyear.

Well, yes. Clearly for full production they ensured everything was as it should be.

I am not a details person (ha, ask my missus). I am an impulsive emotional nutter and just feel things.
For example, my manual F430 Spyder. I am sure if most people drive it they would say:

  • Too loud
  • Too wide
  • Too rattley
  • Too firm
  • Wobbles on potholes
  • steering too light
  • too scared to park it, drive it, wash it
But I say with 100% conviction that, when I drive it, I don't notice any of this and enjoy the whole experience.
Maybe I am lucky that I don't sweat on the details.

If I had the Emira for a week the just maybe I would start to spot something niggly. I can't day yet.
It have to be something for me not to stay in love with it.

I went with Sports and Goodyears as I knew it would be an all year car but, I have to say, those CUP2s were not an issue in the slightest and the road was mostly damp.

Only just got back in so not watched your video review yet (just decompressing lol)
Genuine question though, do you think having other cars (access to more expensive cars) skewed your opinion at all.
IF the Emira was your only car would you be as happy with it? 🙂
Obviously I'd have a sub 1 grand Skoda Fabia to go along with it 😅 but in the same position would it bring you as much joy. Or would you buy something in a similar +20% price bracket and have something even more well rounded.
Obviously test drives should happen imminently so will be able to decide for myself, but think it is interesting none the less.
If I had a 718 Spyder and Mclaren 620 as well as the Emira then of course the Emira would be a no brainer! 😁
Thank you

Fair question.

The answer is no!
If anything the Emira had to be this good to have a chance.

It was kinda like the Ferrari, Bentley and C63 in one car - for less - and even better looking.
I would be very happy and proud to ONLY own the Emira IF I did not have 3 sons.
I cannot think of another NEW 2-seater sports car that comes close ever just over 100k.

The delight was genuine.

It is not just a good all-rounder and master of nothing.
I think it mastered in feel, looks, comfort, steering and that all adds up to a super experience.

Is it exciting? Yes, in the bends. On the straights, if you really want that punch then is good but not exciting.
It is nice to put your foot down and giggle at the madness but the Emira still made me giggle when it came to a sequece of bends, rondabouts and straights, which is really what matters.

That is genuinely great to hear, thank you 🙂
I wont ask you to expel your other sons to prove the point, but good to hear 🥰

Ha. Yeah.

I thought the special treat was the Lotus news. I was expecting it today. It must be imminent.
Certainly, things are rolling om; customers are getting cars, demo car rides are actually now just around the corner... not soon.
