Adding a subwoofer

Geezus, you are not effing around. A 12" sub in something as small as the Emira is going to pressurize nicely.

I'm in the process of replacing the audio system as it is terrible IMO for this level of car. What they call a sub is hilarious and weighs like a pound :-) I am buying the kit from kjwemira to install some proper speakers ... separate tweeter, 6.5', 5", low profile sub, and an amp. I can't give up the entire bench for a large sub so just adding a better quality sub along with the better speakers and sound dampening will improve the interior immensely.
Let us know what you end up installing.

Will do, something like a lowprofile 8" sub (i.e. Eton USB 8AR, Kicker hideway, etc), Audison amp, not sure which 6.5/5 yet ... need to before I get the kit

In my Elise I added this powered Sub (was a previous model but similar to this) and it made an enormous difference for less than £200. It looked messy as it just sat in the passenger footwell but worked effectively.

Where do you access the wiring to put something like this in? It’s a powered sub so connects straight to pre-outs and power, where would you find these in the Emira?

I've seen/heard a number of these in Elises/Exiges and they are a significant improvement. If anyone does this in the Emira, would love to know how much of a difference they make

The difference to the Elise was absolutely enormous, but then you’re not starting from much!

There may be room behind one of the seats in the Emira?! Just don’t know where you plug it in.

I am actually good with the fronts, once they break in there is a noticeable sound quality improvement. And many forget that the audio source is the biggest factor. Stream from low rez like Pandora and it sounds like crap. Go high rez like Qobuz and Tidal and it is a very different experience.

I am also aligned with many that the bass is boomy sometimes and nonexistent other times. This is usually a resonant frequency issue, so my plan is to remove to stock sub, pack the space with rock wool, then replace that sub with a higher performing/larger magnet one. I don't think it needs more power as it is already boomy when bass is set to max, it just needs better quality, like a bigger magnet that will allow more accurate cone movement.

I'll post here when I get the guts to pull my brand new car apart. I'll wait for someone else to post a video of how to get to the subwoofer, then take this on.

I just video this exact thing and showed pulling out all the speakers, applying soundproof. waiting for kit and then all the components to install. will video that as well. so at some point I'll be able to upload. it actually was pretty simple ... but getting that stupid seat unplugged was a struggle :-) In hind sight, I should have had someone hold it tilted on its side and then come at from the opposite. But I just wanted to do it more difficult
