After the recent theft of our other car I am now considering all options for securing the Emira. Thieves quickly disabled the location services so I'm not interested in a tracker. Ghost and Pandora appear to be the market leaders in high end immobilisation so I was wondering if anyone here has an experience either fitted to their Emira or to another car?

Have no idea about immobilisers, although I have heard of ones that allow you to remotely immobilise, so the car is easier to find in a location of your choice, rather than the thieves.
Do you know how they got around the Location services? A bit concerned about that one, as if it is easy to do, whats the point of a Tracker in the first place.

Apparently pros know exactly where the module is and they disconnect it. They had disabled it by the time I realised it had been taken. The appeal of the immobiliser is that they'd have to try and disable it while it's still on the drive so much riskier.

FWIW, I actually reached out to the team at Ghost 18 months ago, and the reply I got was they had an Emira solution "in development" and a few weeks away from being done, so in theory they should be ready by now :)

Thanks for the reminder that I should look into that again now.

I spoke to the team at Ghost today and they have a solution for the Emira now that includes a "gearbox lock" which is apparently a bonus feature that should prevent it being rolled onto a low loader etc. I also spoke to trackershop-uk who say they've done several Emira installations across the country. I was hoping someone on here might be one of them?

I will also reach out to Lotus Customer Service to check there is no warranty issue with adding the Ghost as I've heard of cases where manufacturers refuse to honour claims when an aftermarket immobiliser has been added.

I spoke to them 3 months ago, they said they cant do it, and wasn't looking to do it

I'm checking into the Ghost II system and fortunately for me, there's an Autowatch authorized installer in my city of just over 1 million people. They checked and told me they can do an Emira installation. Thanks Andy H for the helpful info about the "gearbox lock". I look forward to your advice about potential warranty issues, in due course. I"d be surprised if there'd be any, since it's a stand-alone system, as far as I know.

I think getting the Bluetooth Key Tag with the system, is a good idea, so you can provide that to any dealer servicing the car. I realize you'd have to trust the dealer not to download the code, but I wouldn't have a problem with that, since I'd already be trusting them with my vehicle. I suspect the code could also be changed, once the vehicle is back in my hands.

FWIW, I also checked with my vehicle insurer, who's on the list of companies that provide a discount with this type of immobiliser. Once installed, I'd save (drum roll...are you ready?) a grand total of $24/year for my Emira policy. At that rate, the Ghost II system would pay for itself, in about 58 years. I can hardly wait (lol).
