Colors other than FE colors

I'm sure the extra colours will be available for the base editions. The debate seems to be about whether they add them for the i4 First Editions - which I think is quite likely.

At the launch they were saying a further 7 colours after 3-6 months, but I think if they add them for later V6 First Editions they will get some adverse reaction.

The uncertainty about timing was on the list of questions I fed back to Lotus last week. I think it is reasonable to have an answer on this before committing to a V6 FE in January, as some people might chose to wait if it meant more colours.

They need to just surprise and please all of us and release all the colors now. I'll gladly wait a couple months longer if it means I can get my V6 FE in a color I actually want.

A few years back, you could get Evora in a color called Autumn Bronze. As I recall it was a little darker than the burnt orange represented here. Am I recalling this accurately? It was really a wonderful color.

I'd be really interested to see it in Lotus Laser Blue with black interior, diamond cut wheels and black calipers. I have a vested interest and it'll probably make me more frustrated that it isn't available on the FE.

You are really suffering, aren’t you @TomE?

Truthfully, those are both beautiful cars, but I really love that Evora!

Yes, there was Autumn Bronze available on the Evora:

Also a one-off metallic bronze used to produce an Evora version of the "For Your Eyes Only" Esprit:

After spending some time working on images, I was trying to duplicate a look that was on a picture of the Evija, and in the process changed the photo studio light room. Instead of just white walls and floors, I put wood flooring and brick on one of the walls. The change in the images was dramatic. I feel these look much more representative of how the FE colors are going to look on the car, since none of us will be driving on white floors in a room with white walls. The only downside is these renders take twice as long as the old ones, but I think the look is worth it.

On the Evija, the version of diamond cut wheels they use includes the outer edge of the rim, so I duplicated that for the Emira wheels and put it on all these renders just to see what they would look like. I like it. It would be an easy enough mod to do if you got either the diamond cut wheels, or the black gloss wheels.

These are the standard FE colors in the new render room just for reference. I didn't change any of the colors; these are the exact same colors I used in the white render room.

This is the color I was working on for the Evija, but I think it may actually be somewhat closer to Nimbus than what I was using.

With fancier wheels, Shadow Gray actually looks pretty good.

Those wheels do look good, more 'finished' in my eyes. Still finding it hard to resist verdant!

Adjusted the overhead light to give the highlights more pop, and the full rim edge diamond cut definitely looks more upscale and exotic. Fits this car (and color) perfectly. I really hope this is close to what Dark Verdant is actually going to look like on the car, because if it is, this is going to be one classy ride.

That looks stunning. Would you be able to do Hethel without black pack under same lighting. Then I would have my final choices to contemplate. Really can't decide between the fun sporty yellow option or the serious gt option. I like both very much.

Concrete does brighten up the lower half of the car. The idea with the wood floor was to simulate inside a studio, but this works too as inside a garage.

Wonder how much it would be to get the rim diamond cut only... 🤔
The diamond cut spokes are actually a bit higher than the outside rim, so a machine cut probably wouldn't be possible. However, it looks like the diamond cut wheels in the Chinese Hethel yellow video are a silver metallic paint with gloss clear over it. That could be matched on the outer rim edge in between the raised diamond cut spoke sections. You'd just have to stripe the 5 sections in between the diamond cut parts. I would think a pro paint specialist could do that fairly easily and put clear over it to match. That's what I'm thinking anyways.

Definitely this... Exactly what I thought when I viewed it in person... But as mentioned above, the rim isn't continuous, which makes it trickier to just cut / paint neatly. :(

Depends on how they do it. If it's paint, just paint over the black sections in between the diamond cut and put clear over it. If it's an actual cut with clear over the exposed metal, then you could take something like a Dremel tool and remove the black paint to expose the metal, then put clear over that. If it's like that, I could do that myself. Put a small fine sanding drum on the Dremel and remove the paint, then hand brush a tough, high gloss clear over each section.

Here's one of Magma on a concrete floor. The more I look at it, I really like this wheel style with the black calipers and white lettering. Looks very classy.

All three wheel options are the same physical design, just different finishes. So if you want the look of the continuous silver rim aren't you better off just getting the all-silver wheels? The rim on those also has two levels, with some flush with the spokes and some lower. I think a wheel specialist could remove the darker material, polish and lacquer or paint over some/all of the bright surface, depending on which wheel you start from and the effect you're trying to achieve.

I thought about that, but the amount of work involved in painting all the silver areas black around the diamond cut would be prohibitive, plus you'd have to take the tire off the rim to do it right. You'd have to paint all those vertical areas inside and in between the spokes.

Painting or rotary sanding the black edge areas in between the diamond cut spokes would be far easier, and you wouldn't have to take the tire off. You just want the surface, not the edges.
