So I am loving the Emira and at this point I'm just looking into a few small quirks that are somewhat annoying to see if they are normal or exceptions. One such thing is that whenever I accelerate (doesn't matter if it's light or hard acceleration), I notice a subtle ticking noise that I THINK is coming from behind me somewhere. It's difficult to determine the source and I'm going to have to let someone else drive while I try to locate it. The noise doesn't happen when I'm not accelerating so I'm thinking it's either something within the engine or just something in the car that vibrates only during acceleration.

At any rate, I've heard at least 2-3 others report this on Facebook or in this forum so I wanted to put it out there...do you notice this noise and if so, have you been able to identify or address it? It somewhat detracts from the otherwise glorious supercharger and exhaust notes from the engine under normal acceleration.

Thanks in advance!

I’m having the same issue. Has anyone had successfully fixed?
Not that I am aware of. Dealer adjusted my shifter cables trying to fix the problem, they said it is quiter than before, but I don't have a thing to Base that off of. LOTUS USA said new cables was the fix. I turned that offer down.

So adjusting cables wasn’t too involved but replacing would need interior taken out and more invasive?

My noise in 100% without a doubt coming from the shifter mechanism. If I apply lateral pressure to the shifter in either direction the noise goes away.
Yeah same but not completely away for me. Also I notice it under 3k rpms mainly. Once above that it goes away.

I haven’t let my dealer know yet. So I will circle back after I do but the amount of people having this problem is adding up.

On a side note. Is there an aftermarket option that would be better if the stock cables our doing this from the factory brand new?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the cables, it's just vibrations transferring into the cabin. So a cable adjustment may not even get rid of it. I am going to try wrapping some foam tape around the cables to see if that absorbs some of the vibrations.
Yeah keep us posted. I don’t mind it too much bc I drive with the windows down 90% of the time so I don’t hear it. But the weather is nice and I can do that now but would be nice not to hear that noise when you decide to close the windows.

And if you keep the RPMS high enough you also won’t hear it but again not always possible depending on where you drive it.

3d print some cable separators and isolators out of TPU or something

I took my car yesterday at the dealer and that ticking noise is also present for me all the time on the highway back home with some other stuff like the driver window wind noise to name just one other. As for the ticking noise I can confirm that if I put a decent amount of pressure on my shifter the irrating noise almost goes away completely. The cable shifter vibration theory make total sense. Now how to fixe that….

I wonder why no reviewers did mention that.

We wanna hear engine noise, exhaust note, sc noise but not ticking noise.
