Drivers Door Handle Issue

That happens when the door is locked. Did you happen to change the setting so the car auto-locks when it hits over 3 MPH?

Yeah, this isn’t a (problem) issue. My wife’s company car does this, and I believe my Lexus had a setting associated with double or single pulls on the door handle as well 🤔

That's silly. I like auto-locking at speed, but when I pull the handle from INSIDE it should open. That's a safety issue.

This is a "feature" that could be coded out if we had coding software.

I think if you use the unlock button in the car prior to opening the door it will only take one pull. Dumb.

I know, BMW, VW, Toyota, Volvo, and Honda all work that way. I thought it was an industry standard or a universal safety standard. I actually prefer it.

My wife was a little confused. But I think I got used to it relatively quickly :)

If Lotus actually did make a software that has these features as toggleable options  And that's a big if..

The doors don't unlock when the car is put in park? My Jeep does the "lock at speed", but when I stop and put the it in park the doors all unlock.

The same thing happened to me and I couldn’t get out. I had just pulled some ligaments and wasn’t able to get out the passenger door so drive to the dealer. They managed to open it, stripped the door and said the mechanism had frozen. Sorted after cleaning and putting silicon grease in somewhere.

This is standard on most European cars - if the doors are locked (whether from inside, outside or by autolock when moving [if set in options]) the first pull of the internal handle unlocks, second pull opens the door. The only exception is if there is a "deadlock" option on the remote (sometimes an extra button on the remote or a second press of the remote lock button - the Emira doesn't have this though) then the internal handle remains locked.

"In the event of an accident that has deployed an airbag, doors will unlock automatically."

It's "as designed" - It's even in the manual....
