Emira art, take 3. Let's start by misquoting the late, great David Bowie...

So the studio got a make-over: easel now by the window, new hardwood floor down, walls painted white, most of the bookcases removed, the decks are cleared ready for action!

Again, I've kept it as simple as I dare - which is very! This lily does not gilded nor does it need fancy fireworks in the background. The car is the star as they say, the supporting actor in each case is the colour and for this one we are back to body colour for the background.

I chose this angle as it lengthens the car (look at the lovely long sweep of the A pillar, cant rail and engine cover - what a line!) and also because the light gives so many shades of Seneca here. In some images Seneca flattens the form but here the lighting retains, in fact highlights, all the drama of that gorgeous shape. The other advantage is however you like your Seneca - light and funky or deeper and darker - it's all here!

This is complete launch spec - yes that is a black roof, those are just highlights and sky reflection.

Planned edits where the painting will vary from this image:
- Lighten up the diamond cut wheel faces very slightly.
- reduce the extent of the highlight on the roof slightly.
- replace the scenery seen through the side window with background blue, same as I did with the DV version.
- Add a charge-cooler, larger supercharger and nitrous oxide. (they'll be there, you just won't be able to see them :ROFLMAO: )

Gentlemen, start your engines!

A great 80s playlist on, enjoying the new studio layout, more room and better light = drawing stage complete!

Just totally got in the zone with this this morning and now so excited to have paint hitting the canvas soon. Next stage is to apply a coat of clear gesso over this to lock in the drawing. Oh, and the small matter of mixing my version of Seneca for the background - that will be like trying to grab hold of air....

So here’s the thing.

Excellence never came from settling.

Something was bugging me about my chosen source image for the Seneca Blue Emira. I wasn’t quite as stoked to paint it as I was the others. Looking back through my archive of images I found what I was looking for – an image which showed off the form much better and had some really beautiful colour shifts as well as a lot more detail – important when this one is occupying more of the canvas than either of the previous two.

So now I hope you have the image you all deserve, one which will do the Emira justice in its launch colour and full launch spec.

The slightly challenging part now is the new image is from a slightly different angle so I’m working from one image for form and perspective and the other for light and shade. Nothing worthwhile ever came easy.

Wow, I would already hang this up on the wall as it is with the wireframe Emira on it. Looks fabulous!

I was so happy to get Hethel and DV back from their travels safe and sound, I thought it would be nice for them to meet their new sibling.

Any more of this and I'll be making an exhibition of myself....

Just some base colour blocking in for Seneca so far, but starting to see the form emerging.

A solid spell at the easel and she is starting to take shape. Quite a bit of light and shade still to be added to the central area which will give it yet more depth but we're on the right track, motoring on now.
