Emira insurance in the US

I just spent a few hours shopping around for insurance in CO. Granted, none of these companies are my current insurer as American Family won't insure this car (not sure if never or it just isn't in their system but the underwriters denied exception). I did however put in two cars just in case there was a discount for more than one car. Price to follow is just for the Emira though.
Progressive and State Farm were both over $300/mo. USAA just under $200/mo. Hagerty is $147/mo.
Over 50 y/o driver with zero accident history or tickets in the last 30 years.
I also called CONNECT, powered by American Family Insurance today (have several cars insured with them) and they can't find neither my VIN nor can they find Lotus Emira period in their system! They routed it to their underwriters and I am waiting for a call back. Agent said they don't insure vehicles over $100k but then I reminder her they had insured my 911 for several years and that vehicle cost a lot more than an Emira.

I have also submitted my Emira details to CONNECT (they requested photos of all sides of the car). They insure our Lucid Air Touring ($127k) along with our Model 3 Performance and Cadillac ELR. They didn't mention the $100k limit to me when I shared the purchase price (107k) and submitted the Bill of Sale. They said it was not in their system but that happens with new models sometimes. Will let everyone know if I have any issues.

Weird to see these reports of issues with CONNECT. Simple phone call, no issues, no photos, no drama and got it insured in less than 10 minutes. I'm based in Las Vegas, so maybe a different branch or something.

Damn! I use GEICO and I’m at 2400 for 6 months for the Emira and an 18’ wrangler. (8k miles for the Emira)

Mine is about 2k / year with Safeco in NJ. I tried to add it to my Allstate policy and that was 3400/ year… so started looking around. If you need insurance in NJ call Direct Insurance in Bordentown. Good peeps.

I was going down the route with Grundy as they had a much lower quote but they are stuck in the 1980s for servicing - it took multiple days to get underwriting to review and messing around with wet signatures by default or waiting for them to send docusign.

Hagerty $2500
Grundy $1300
Progressive $4500

I then got recommended an agent that quoted me with Cincinnati - I had to move home and auto but ended up at $1200 for Emira and without the high level of restrictions that Grundy had. They were able to issue the policy in 15 mins and they have a good app to manage policy.

Let me know if WA/OR based and want the agent details.

Whoa, Wawanesa quoted me 1800/year to add it to my existing policy with them. 11k is insane.

Connect covered my FE2 in CA. $401.87 semi annually. $1k deductible. $250k/500k bodily injury and uninsured motorist bodily injury, comprehensive and collision along with new car replacement and gap coverage. 100k property damage liability. Age 62, married, both my wife (67) and I are on the policy. 3 other vehicles on the same policy (2023 Lucid Air Touring, 2018 Tesla Model 3 Performance, 2014 Cadillac ELR). Discounts applied; multi-car, premier safety, tenure, multi-product (homeowners policy), Costco, good driver, anti-theft, dual and side airbags. Bill of sale provided for the Lotus ($107k). Lucid was more expensive. Lotus was not in their database but they figured it out. Took a couple of call backs to finally get the policy updated to reflect the Emira but they just wanted me to exclude my 22 year old college student from the policy (he has his own car/insurance policy with USAA). Once I sent them the driver exclusion form back it took less than a day to update.

I called them yesterday and said couldn't get me a quote since they no longer do 100k or over. Maybe I'll call again and talk to a different rep.

I had originally added the Emira to my Geico policy as it replaced my '22 Taycan. I also have my Raptor and Model Y with them. They were charging me $4K/year just for the Emira.

I live in the mountains of Colorado and have better than the standard coverage as I don't want to be under insured. Deductibles are $500/$1000.

Haggerty quoted me $2K/year with a guaranteed value of $100K (I paid FE1 MSRP). That's with 5K miles/year.

What the. I got quoted $6k with AAA and StateFarm and $1100 for 6 months with Wawanesa ( which is what i ended up going with ). In the Bay area and pretty much the same driver profile as you. Insurance companies sure are random as hell with this car.

Geico is charging me $202 per month with $300K/$500K, $100K, $100K/$200K and $2,500 Ded. 51 yrs old no events of any kind in the last 20 years. Oh and in SoCal. I told them about 5,000 miles a year but they seem to only go as low as 12,000 miles per year.

NCM Insurance quoted $175 per month with the same coverage. This is for 6,000 miles per year.
