Emira insurance in the US

I've been tracking on my end for almost a year getting quote every couple of months just to see. It's slowly been creeping up from around $65 to about $90ish. Last week it had dropped slightly to $87/mo. Pretty happy with that if it stays flat until I get the car

Crazy got a previous quote from GEICO @ $5,880/ year. Re tried a quote after seeing yours and now $131/month or $1503.80/year! Im in SoCal as well.

12months Period
Grundy: $1,341.76
AAA: $3,113
Hagerty: $3,069
Wawanesa: $11k+ (yeah nuts)
StateFarm: $6k+ (yup)
NCM: $3,080
Geico: $5,880 (requote @ $1503.80)
How many miles a year. Good info all. Keep sharing!

The variability between major insurers is wild:

State Farm January Quote: $4,900/yr
State Farm May Quote: $2,400/yr
AAA: $12,000/yr
Progressive: $10,000/yr
Geico: $2,200/yr

All at similar coverage amounts and 6,000 mi/yr.

Interesting enough, when I did the quote online on GEICO gave me a quote of $131/month. But wouldn't accept my VIN#. So called GEICO and the REP redid the quote and gave me $540/month for SAME coverage. Then asked why it's waayy different than the quote I was given online. He then decided to look up the quote# for $131 and changed the price to that. Crazy. Almost went with Grundy since I sent them all documents and photos couple days ago but haven't paid. Now I'm with Geico and finally insured hehe

Are they just using a random number generator or what?

Did you give the VIN with the online quote? It won't take my vin so I had to answer general questions to get the quote at GEICO, which came to $165/m with the online configurator.

What REP did you talk to I want to talk with him about this?

Yeah tried putting my Vin but won't accept it. Just call GEICO a

Yeah I tried inputting my Vin for the last step and it couldn't find the Emira. Had to call them. However, when you call don't follow the prompt for Auto Quote, it will lead you to a dead end where it will tell you they do it online only. What I had to do is just try to get someone to speak with. I believe I went for an existing claim till I got someone on the phone and just asked to finalize a quote since online won't take my vin. They'll gladly help you. The rep will probably start a new quote and just wait and see what number they come up with. Then bring up the quote number you got online. They will honor it. :)

Pretty insane for me here in California.

Emira is insured as a secondary/pleasure vehicle, no technical mileage limit but gave an estimate of 5-8k miles/year usage. Using AAA bundled with our home insurance, have been a AAA customer for over 25 years. 45 year old male, California homeowner, zero points / accidents on record.

Emira: $4690/year

My prior 2009 Lotus Elise, marked the same as a pleasure vehicle with 5-8k miles driven per year: $1088/year

wtf.. my 911s were half the cost as well. Will Emira insurance come down in an year or two as they start collecting statistics/repair numbers?
Try Geico. I'm in SoCal. Been member for AAA for 18 years. AAA quote was high as well. And called numerous insurance. (See my previous posts) Tried GEICO online quote and got my Emira insured for <$800 6 months.

Seconding GEICO. I won't take delivery for a few months, but just got a quote for $84/month for the Emira. The total 6 month premium would be $1175 which includes 3 vehicles: Emira, Mercedes GLB and Audi Q3.

44, married, no accidents, Ohio. I'm hoping the I4 is even a bit cheaper when it gets loaded into the database.

Anyone got a quote from USAA yet? I'm in SoCal and they've had amazing rates for my other cars.
Yep, I've posted my various quotes over the past several months but I don't live in Cali. So far so good with them although others have had not good rates from USAA. Way too many factors to consider apples to apples but is interesting to see the HUGE variation from $1k/yr to over $5k/yr

June State Farm $2400/yr
June Geico ~$1050/yr - probably closer to $1200/yr if matching State Farm policy

State Farm agent confirmed for me that they cannot compete with Geico. However, I couldn't get a hold of a single person at Geico and that scared me away from that company. I can get a hold of my State Farm agent whenever I need so I'm going with them.

I think Geico is running some kind of strange ultra low cost model with digital only in most states including CA, no physical assets and make it really difficult to speak with a live person. Plus they sell your data to 3rd party companies (they disclose this). Geico seems like a great company to go with if you just want the minimum coverage for compliance and never intend to use the insurance. Their rates are incredible for this use case.

Providing another data point for y'all.

I'm doing well with Geico in Maryland so far. 1k miles with max coverage is $1,320/6months. I'll be scaling down the coverage and increasing miles as I get more familiar with the car.

Has anyone used Geico recently for a claim and had a good experience? The sales process is scaring me away. Can't talk to anyone.

I’ve used GEICO for my Evora a few years back (2018) when I got into an accident (I was at fault). Submitted claim, adjuster came out, really liked the car and thought it was unique. Not too many questions asked and I was able to fix it at a place of my choosing. It took forever to get parts from lotus though I remember being over 6 months without it. My premium went up as you’d expect but not by that much which surprised me.

Btw! Before going to GEICO, i have Tesla insurance for my Model 3 and I was able to add the Emira with them using the Tesla app.

Tesla Insurance: $2788/year

However I think Tesla insurance is available on some states only like CA

GEICO was rated one of the top insurance in US. Have friends extremely happy with them. It's my first time with them but not the first time I've used them. A teenager rear ended me and their insurance (GEICO) took care of everything. They were very easy to work with and responsive. They even payed for a luxury car rental for a month and half @ $175/day for me lol

Some data points from Michigan

Progressive: $3082 per year ($1541 per 6 months), 6000 miles per year
Grundy: $1560 per year
