Emira insurance in the US

I quoted an Evora GT here in California to get an idea of what I’d be expecting when I first reserved the Emira and there was maybe a $100/ 6 month premium difference when compared to my M4 Competition.

Sad to see you cancel.
But if you change your mind look into
Haggerty
I have my Evora and Cayman insured with them full comprehensive at stated value
$2,270 a year for both
You clearly don’t have two teenage drivers on your policy. :(

Yeah believe it or not I'm already "bundled"! I'm paying about $2500 for a '22 Aviator and a '15Chevy Silverado. For whatever reason they ain't passin' out no discounts on an Emira...:(
Pops68, I live in SoCal and am bundled with AAA as well. I haven't checked yet but figured it would be around that to add the Emira. Add to that, my 17 year old son should be be getting his license right around when I am to get my car, 😱 I think I will be checking out other's recommendations here.

I'm in SoCal. Even if you don't get an Emira, I would recommend looking into Wawanesa for insurance. I have been with them for 20+ years and have never found anyone that can beat their rates. My F80 M3 is costing me 1340/yr as a daily driver, not as a second car. Really good coverage, I am not bundling (long story why I don't have my homeowners with them, but nothing bad due on them - my rates would be lower if I had my homeowners with them as well). I'm not affiliated with them in any way, just a satisfied customer.
Can you elaborate on Wawanesa? I've heard it a few times so thought I'd ask. What's your experience and what are the pros/cons? Is it well backed?

I agree. It did occur to me that I should get a bunch of quotes and I can still keep my AAA on existing cars/house and simply buy a policy for the Emira from someone else. I'll be doing that next week. After speaking with my Dealer she put me back on the fence regarding buying this car. Call me a "wobbler" for now..:)

Thanks for that, I'll check them out!

I'm with State Farm and was recently quoted ~$155/mo (~$1800/yr) to add the Emira to my policy with full coverage. This was a bit higher than my previous quote I got last year (using an Evora GT for the quote because the Emira wasn't yet an option in their system), which was ~$117/mo (~$1400/yr).

I might do some shopping around.. but doesn't seem too outrageous.

Hagerty used to insure Lotus. I was with them for Elise- $800/year, 10K miles/year. I might try again with them whenever EMIRA gets on the shore.

840 a month for 2x vehicles, one of which is an Elise.

Edit- I meant to say per year lol.

Wow, some high insurance rates. But there are SOOOOOO many factors and will never be an apples:apples comparison but interesting to see the deltas. My C8 is $55/mo, Blackwing is $64/mo and the Emira is currently $70/mo if I started it today. I've been with my insurance co for 30+ years and no claims (dang I've paid them alot of money :)

They still insure lotus. My current lotus is insured with them

Some general info on the company history, assets, etc. can be found on wikipedia and their website. I should have mentioned that they are a Canadian company and only offer US policies in California and Oregon.

My personal experience with them over the past 20+ years has been positive. During most of that time I have used them for both auto and homeowners (although I am not currently using them for homeowners). Family of 6 (me, wife, 4 kids - youngest just started driving last year). I have made claims on both homeowners and auto over the years and it has always been a smooth process with no contention. I have never felt like I had to fight to get what I was owed. Everyone I have dealt with there has been pleasant and willing to talk and answer questions. The only downside compared to my experiences with other providers is the lack of a dedicated agent. You get whoever answers your call on a given day. You do get assigned a dedicated person when handling a claim, but for general interactions, changes to your policy, questions, etc. you just get the next person in the queue.

They do have a network of preferred repair shops they work with, and they will encourage you to use them. You don't have to, but the process is easier if you do.

The reason I no longer use them for homeowners is that they do have some specific rules on what they will insure for you, and in the case of homeowners they will only insure your primary residence that you are living in. I moved out of my home for over 2 years to do a major reconstruction on it, and since I wasn't living in it they would not insure it. So I got a policy elsewhere on my home with the intention to return to Wawanesa once construction was done. But during that period I also signed up for an umbrella policy with my new provider, and Wawanesa does not offer an umbrella policy. So if I return to Wawanesa for my homeowners, I will lose my umbrella policy. Most companies I have talked to won't provide an umbrella unless you have an existing homeowners or auto policy with them, and I haven't dedicated the time to find someone that will just give me an umbrella if I have both policies under Wawanesa.

Nope. Past that point. When I had 3 of them the insurance was a killer😂
Did you have any luck getting a split rate with a car designated that would be inaccessible/locked down from a teenager being able to use it?

Who has called their insurance to get a quote on the the Emira yet? I called my fun car insurer this am and was SHOCKED at how much they quoted me.

I just checked online... premium quote is a $100 more a month. Which seems high considering my 2023 718 Spyder is less than that with a much higher MSRP.

Yes, I have a 981 Spyder and the insurance is about 1/2 what they quoted on the Lotus. Oh well, hopefully we get the cars soon so we can move beyond quotes. I expect my car to be at dealer any day now so I can have a visit.
