Emira insurance in the US

Yes, I have a 981 Spyder and the insurance is about 1/2 what they quoted on the Lotus. Oh well, hopefully we get the cars soon so we can move beyond quotes. I expect my car to be at dealer any day now so I can have a visit.
I have 981 spyder too!!! Even after 8 years i still turn around to look at her after i park. Our garages are the best lol You cannot look at insurance as a retail product, every car has a symbol, and they are all different. Thats what rates are based on.
30 years in insurance here, if any need any help let me know.

Does anyone have ALL-STATE? They said I need a VIN before I can get a quote.

I'm still checking with State-Farm who does my every day home-auto, but I went ahead and got quotes from Hagerty & Grundy.

FYI - Missouri, 40+ years old, no tickets on record, one small accident 8 years ago on record.

Hagerty: $3276/year
Grundy: $1500/year

I just bundled my Evora GT with my current State Farm policy. It's not too bad.. $900 or so every 6 months. I suppose I could shop around a bit.

It's not a quote for the Emira, but I did just place coverage with American Collectors Insurance (affiliated with USAA) for a 1969 E-Type with an agreed value policy of $100k (if car cannot be repaired I'm owed the agreed value). There is no deductible, but there is a mileage restriction of 5,000/yr. Premium is $608/yr. Was told that the Emira would be about the same as it's value is similar. Thinking I'll go a similar route with the Emira.

Is that every day insurance? Or just special insurance?

Same, I dont typically put many miles on my cars so thats fine with me.

Grundy doesn't have mileage restrictions, and generally allows you to drive the car for the situations you want to, but they do require a daily driver to have insurance already on it for you to have your policy. So it's not meant for someone to use as a daily driver, but at same time loose restrictions.

Hmm, AllState is requiring a VIN. Dont have it yet.

State Farm was around $3800/year
Geico was around $2800/year

When it's time I'll probably call Grundy and make sure I can live with their restrictions, because over $300 a month for insurance is insane.

Interesting..... I went to Hagerty and obtained a quote for my inbound Emira w/ $1K deductible full coverage, and it was $1673 per year. I stated that it was stock and had value of $100K. As a comparison, my 2024 718 GTS, with same value and deductible is $2059 per year. I have 3 other Vehicles already insured with Hagerty, never had a claim.

I have not received a number yet from Travelers who covers my daily drivers, but I pay between $1,050 per year and $1,450 per year for the daily drivers.

Man that is cheap and 5K miles is plenty for me. Perhaps I'll give them a call.....

EDIT: Not looking good at the onset:

EDIT #2: Just for funsies, I thought I'd grab an estimate for the Evija as well :)

Hahahaha! Well, over 10x the price of an Emira and they want 10x the ins. The math checks out. 😂

So many factors go into insurance it's almost useless to compare as it will vary wildly with location, age, credit score, driving history, coverage, etc... But just as another data point, I was quoted $1850/yr from USAA in Florida, age 33.

This state has some of the worst insurance rates in the country due to large amounts of uninsured motorists, generally reckless drivers, natural disasters, and insurance fraud. When I moved here from WA state the insurance on my daily driver DOUBLED for the same coverage, so I was pretty surprised when comparing quotes to some of the higher rates many of you are posting.

State Farm insures my house and other cars - in California. Quoted $2,400 annual for the Emira
So this post made me get in touch with my State Farm rep, because it was $1400 less than what they initially quoted me and even he was surprised that they would have ever quoted $3800. So he looked into it and got my new quote to $2600 (and I could probably get it lower if I increased the deductible... ours is very low right now), but he did say that it's just based on the price of the car right now, because State Farm doesn't even have the 2024 Emira in their system and State Farm quotes would all have to be updated once it was in the system anyways.

Just found that last part interesting.
