Is this for the wheel gap or bonnet gap? Perhaps there may be a discount if you insured both together? Is anyone thinking about gap insurance?

The car is showing on confused.com and rather than a choice of manual and auto, there are two identical manual cars listed. It is almost like one of them is a placeholder for the auto. Another forum member mentioned that their broker did get a quote for an auto.Tried to get a quote today from a local broker. The Emira is not even on the system. He suggested calling in September, when the new reg starts and new cars get added, to see if Emira is listed.
I think most fully comprehensive insurance policies should pay out back to invoice price on a new car, if written off in the first year of ownership. This isn’t the case for lease cars (in this situation they pay market value, most cars depreciate, so GAP insurance makes up the shortfall). We had a Golf R lease car stolen, that wasn’t recovered. So found out the hard way. No one will have an Emira on a lease so I don’t think it should be an issue. ALA offer competitive GAP insurance which may be useful in the 2nd year of ownershipIs anyone thinking about gap insurance? I got a fairly cheap policy on my Evora but that was 10 years ago. I don't know how standard or gap insurance would address a waiting list or possible premium over list price in the event of a total loss.

£612 for me and Admiral.Sounds about right I am getting £700ish for mine but had to add a recent speeding fine!
Still feels a little unnecessary based upon fear of the unknown... (unless its a lease and u don't own it)ALA have always been well priced for me.
I had 4 years' GAP on my previous M4 from them with "vehicle replacement plus" cover, which covers you for the value of a new replacement car, even taking care of manufacturer's price increases, which can obviously be quite valuable over 4 years.
It's not to cover market value, though, if you get the right GAP policy. It's to cover the difference between insurance payout and a brand new car.Still feels a little unnecessary based upon fear of the unknown... (unless its a lease and u don't own it)
How many folk on hear have written a car off and not got at least market value?
Maybe don't admit to that
I know, still 300 pounds thoughIt's not to cover market value, though, if you get the right GAP policy. It's to cover the difference between insurance payout and a brand new car.
If you pay, say, £60k for a car and 3 years later it's written off, with a 'normal' car the market value might well be £30k. With price increases, a new model being released, etc, it could be that a new replacement is now £70k.
GAP picks up the £40k difference between the £30k payout and the £70k to get an equivalent new replacement.
Edit: I had £30k of cover for 4 years on a previous car. I think I paid £300 for that policy. So roughly £1.50 per week.
admiral quote me 1200. on drive, 1000 in garage...Admiral appear to want around 350 for mine! On drive, 4K miles

On Confused.com there are two choices of Emira with identical descriptions (both manual). I wonder if one is a placeholder for the auto. Perhaps whatever triggers them appearing there (type-approval?) didn't happen at the same time. My Evora 410 Sport auto was about £250 last year, age 57, full NCB, on drive, low crime postcode. I priced the Emira up on confused and it was just over £500, albeit this was manual, I am getting auto. I can't see any reason that an auto will be significantly more cost than the manual.Just been on the phone to LV (had my Evora 400 insured with them,) the Emira is not on their system yet . Said to ring back nearer the time!
Would be nice to get an idea of costs , can find manual Emira's on other insurer's , but not an auto one . The Evora was about £300 , north Yorkshire , on drive 50+ age and 10,000 miles parked on drive .
Admiral came up with £683 , that is for a manual , there was two cars that came up, but one was a first edition, and presume the other a std one, cant see how the auto will be anymore to insure ?On Confused.com there are two choices of Emira with identical descriptions (both manual). Someone else mentioned that brand new models of cars are usually a bit more expensive to insure when compared to comparative established models as there is no history and so the risk profile is considered greater by the insurers.
I would recommend giving confused.com a try and at least you can get a figure to budget with.
Let us know how you get on.

It may be a few pounds more for the auto as the value of the vehicle is a bit higher with the auto box. I am not expecting it to be very much though. The cheapest quote for me on confused was also Admiral. It did look like some of the usual companies were missing that usually come up for me, so perhaps it all takes a while to filter through all the insurers systems.Admiral came up with £683 , that is for a manual , there was two cars that came up, but one was a first edition, and presume the other a std one, cant see how the auto will be anymore to insure ?
Having had a chat with Alan Morgan about insurance. He said all adverts in the Club Lotus magazine are recommended by Club Lotus. There are several specialist insurers who cover Lotus cars and have affiliations with various of the owners clubs, including AIB, Manning, REIS, Footman James, Adrian Flux, ClassicLine and Lancaster Insurance.
Many of them are familiar with the older cars, limited mileage policies, agreed values, track day cover etc.
It might be worth approaching them about Emira cover. I'm with Manning and will be talking to them about cover once I get my 30 day notice.
Sounds like there’s a good spread of brokers involved.
