Emira Insurance UK

Just tried adding my wife and it brought it down too, now an amazingly cheap £342 from LV, and that is without any NCD as my discount is used on my daily driver. I will have to get a tracker fitted, but the same Scorpion S5 Tracker which costs £500 as a factory option can be retro fitted for £379 from trackershop.com. Happy days, just need the car now :)
How come so cheap? Are you 70 and live in the Outer Hebrides? 😆

I'll have to re-run pricing again. Was LV on comparison site?

It does seem crazy cheap, doesn't it? 50 something, car garaged, social use only, living in a village in the Scottish Borders. Probably about as low risk as it gets from an insurer's point of view.

The difference on the tracker may be the first year's subscription - included in the Lotus figure but often omitted when the tracker installers give you a quote.

Got round to doing a quick quote, ever hopeful, it comes out about a fiver a year cheaper than my gt4, no trackers on either.

Wow, some big numbers about. I'm currently seeing about £260 from Admiral for 12m on a multi-cover policy with business use but a 5000 mile limit and no tracker. Bizarrely less than my much less valuable TVR Cerbera and a lot lower than my 340i. Tracker makes very little difference. Increasing to 10k miles is still under £300. Business use reduced the quote. Late 40s, south coast, garaged, zero no-claims available to apply (but I've got 20 years on other cars)

Wow, some very decent quotes!! working out £1200 for me on the comparison sites. 28 ! 10years ncb .. must be doing something wrong?
5k miles
Locked garage, tracker, Durham uk 🤷

Tracker makes very little difference ime, also tends to be cheaper on a driveway than a garage believe it or not.

Something seems to have changed on comparison sites, I got a quote back in July in the £800s range, and today went back in with the same details and getting over £2000! The majority of the companies quoting back in July are no longer in my list on comparethemarket and most showing now I've never heard of!

A bit different for me.
For a manual gearbox, I got a quote of around £550 (from memory) early summer with Admiral, just refreshed it and it is now £686 with Admiral, but there are now two cheaper quotes with companies that didn't appear last time, these quotes are £460 (Principal Insurance) and £466 (Sterling insurance). I haven't heard of either of these companies.
What is worth a try is adding a wife/partner/adult children, even if they won't be driving it can bring the price down for reasons that seem to make no sense, but it is the insurer's game and they make the rules! Also worth experimenting with some business/work use and then rerun the numbers as it is so easy to do with these comaprison services. Just make sure that you don't delete any things that you need to keep your insurance valid for you use profile.
Of course for me, this is all academic, unless Lotus can resolve the Type Approval issue with the V6 auto I won't be needing to insure one!

I wonder if people are less likely to lock their car in a garage making them easier to steal once the garage security is defeated, whereas on the drive, they are more vigilant and keep them locked.

It's due to the likelihood of things dropping on them in a garage and the potential for damage taking them in and out, or so I was told 🤷🏻

Either way it's a bit silly imo

I'd heard that too. Modern cars are wider and the door openings in older garages can be a tight squeeze, so a fair number of claims are self-inflicted scrapes.

Just ran my 4000 personal mile limit on compare the market its around £759 from admiral coming in cheapest - age 52, left on drive, full no claims, no accidents convictions, good quiet area (or so i thought) - must be my profession in IT. With wife (careful driver) on the cover as well :(

That seems a lot, few hundred more than me at 48, fncb etc and I basically live in the ghetto

Maybe they're using the same random number generator as Lotus for the order sequencing 🤔

Edit : you're from Chesterfield, Nuff said 🤣

Lol chasvegas I'll have you know, we are proper posh here..

I'll have to try the specialist brokers others have mentioned. I've not paid that kind of price ever, even in my 20s with a 2.8 Z3
