At least we got a load of good looking photos as promised by Lotus of FE colours in the sunshine!

No wait, these all all still unofficial and we’re all still waiting for the full range of exterior and interior shots from Lotus. Beyond frustrating now. Just embarrassing… 🥴

But they did release photos of silver forged wheels on Magma and a sneek peek of Dark Verdant on facebook!
I guess nobody asked Lotus for high-resolution, non-obscured ones! :ROFLMAO:

So I re-watched a few of the reviews last night. Did anyone else feel as though they were watching Rocky? Apollo Creed starring as Porsche and our Lotus Emira the underdog. Just like the movie Rocky looses after giving an excellent effort, and won the hearts of the crowd. Apollo wins on points.

I guess Rocky II is when Lotus just might topple the great Cayman GT4. I think it may be possible. Just thought it was an interesting correlation! ( just hope we don't end up bankrupt like he did in the end...lol)

I read the Henry Catchpole review in Evo today. Love his writing style.

A really gentle read, quite soporific, not a comparative review. A gentle drive to Monaco that took me along for the ride.

Only high praise was for the tremendous brakes.

Again, reinforces the view it will be a very good car to live with, very pretty and a great badge.

Thinking the better, new car competitors to the Emira are the Audi TT, Z4 or Supra. Cooking versions of the Cayman also, but not the GTS/4.

The price premium could be justifiable on looks, badge, driving dynamics and exclusivity.

Well that's good! I mentioned earlier how none of the reviews were talking about these awesome AP brakes and 2-piece rotors. I'll have to check out Henry's article. Can't wait for the video.

Nah, the FE is a director competitor to the Cayman GTS in every way.

The base i4 Emira might be closer matched to the other vehicles you mentioned, but I'd still compare it to a base or Cayman S.

I’d agree re: the i4 will be good competition for the cooking Caymans.

Although the V6 may be pitched as a competitor, just not seeing it out do the GTS. Won’t stop people buying it though.

I actually thought HC was very positive about many things when I read it.

It was interesting he pointed out that on one hand it's a departure from some previously core Lotus attributes and on the other has similar traits to Lotuses past with regard to turn-in, etc.

Worth getting a free trial from Readly if anyone wants to read Evo, etc, this month.

Auto Express is also on Readly, by the way, so Sutcliffe's review is available.

From the Catchpole collection. *GAP* ...eh, I mean *GASP* 😮🤏📏

Remember when this was a raging debate long ago? And by long ago I mean just last week. #ForTheSimplerTimes

I don't think it has to beat the GTS to be competitive. The easiest parallel is sports. There are plenty of competitive athletes or teams aren't world champions.

Pretty much agree...
Competitors don't always win. Although obviously that's a favourable result!
But in this case I think you can liken it to the pentathlon... But you get to allocate the points weighting in the events... Power/practically /looks. The winner doesn't have to win every category.
The simple thing to ask yourself is if someone offered you the keys to an Emira or a porsche GTS... Which would you take?!

Lotus doesn't need to beat the Cayman. All they need is for the Emira to be able to present itself as a viable alternative for those who want a gorgeous car with exotic looks, capable performance, and something a little less common. I think they've pretty much nailed it.

Yep, agree. Was a good review and no doubt it will be a good car to live with. Very good actually..

He did stay clear of comparisons with other marques though. Which I thought was very helpful. Especially when most people only have a reference point from reviews, not actual experience.

Nevertheless, there wasn’t anything outstanding apart from the brakes. But seemed he liked the overall package. Which is a good review, I think.

I think that’s right and why Lotus are going for #theothersportscar tagline.
Not inspiring, but I do get it now.
I don’t think they even think it ‘beats’ the GTS, certainly not in all areas, but it’s a genuine alternative to a GTS.

Spot on. Hence why Lotus have pitched it as “the other sports car”.
