Yep, agree. Was a good review and no doubt it will be a good car to live with. Very good actually..

He did stay clear of comparisons with other marques though. Which I thought was very helpful. Especially when most people only have a reference point from reviews, not actual experience.

Nevertheless, there wasn’t anything outstanding apart from the brakes. But seemed he liked the overall package. Which is a good review, I think.
Yes, this whole Cayman competitor thing is getting very very old now, and its mostly down to EVO. Its old even after a week, just like the way the cayman looks, old, although after how many years. There is NO NEED to compare, not when the very first drive on a company clinging on for dear life releases a brand new car. FOcus on the car, that its done well and what perhaps could be improved, but understanding, via speaking to Lotus, why certain things perhaps cant be improved and others maybe....

I am VERY guilty of comparing things, cars, houses, .... but it is what we all do and its natural, unavoidable maybe, but its often pointless and is this case, its annoying and pointless. Possibly more annoying as the comparisons are not always favourable, but in any case, its still pointless.
As mentioned above, we dont do this so much in Sport, we dont compare Argentinas greatest teams to Brazils, they have both had great teams and thats it! For snooker fans, the Lotus could be Jimmy White and the Cayman could be Stephen Hendry, back in the day.
For USA golf fans, old enough, the Cayman could be Phil Mickelson and the Lotus, Seve Ballesteros ///
Point being, they both have different characters and attributes, and different fans, but both sides should respect the other and I still think the Evo review lacked that IMO. No doubt if your life depended on one of them winning a tournament, you would go with Hendry or Mickelson, but your life doesn't depend on it, the only thing that depends on your decision is your enjoyment!!! And sometimes the alternatives can be WAY MORE ENTERTAINING, even if they lose out over all, but they for sure dont lose out in terms of looks and character. Can we not just accept that they are not as good in everything, BUT are better in some things, can we not just simply decide which things are important to us and make decisions based on that, simple, it really is simple. Its not which car is best, its which car suits you and what you want from it and which one will put a smile on your face from the moment you open the garage door.
I want a stunning looking car, but not one thats boring to drive, not one thats a Nissan or a Toyota, or a Mazda or a BMW come to that, good or bad, they are not of interest for me as they are good, but they dont stand out, they dont do anything out of the ordinary, even the Yaris GR is still so much a Toyota inside that its depressing and I dont want a fake noise to listen to, each to their own. I will take a slighlty and it is for sure slightly, unorthodox gear change at very high speeds, when I get great steering and a fantastic sound, as well as linear power and looks that any bond girl would kill for.

I hope the comparisons die down over this week.... and I hope Tom and others get their magic phone call this week! If they dont, its looking unlikely most of us ear marked for July delivery will actually be getting July delivery.

Spot on.

My major disappointment was to hope it would be a dynamic evolution or match for the Evora. It’s not. Am over that now.

Re the gear change, really don’t worry about it. It’s not about the speed you’re going, it’s just a shift that you don’t want to rush on a track. Saying that, it’s perfectly fine for a track day though, unless you’re trying to be a racing driver. As thousands of Lotuses on track will testify!!

I really enjoy it. A real feature for me.

What do female body parts have to do with an Emira / cayman?? If you thought it was out of line you’d have deleted it. That you didn’t is it’s own message and sets the tone for the rest of your post.

deleted...they have to do with it from the form, shape, and my own comparisons which I make, but yes your right...

I sat in a friend's manual Kia the other day and played with the gearbox it felt great though the reviews said it was rubbish lol

Yes, exactly and I am sure its better than a 42 year old 911 gear change, before the G box... which I also enjoy....if the gear lever stays on :). Something even the gt3 touring hadnt solved until perhaps the current version

A little less? I see maybe 3-5 Lotus a year out in the wild (track days and car meets excluded). Caymans? Nearly daily.
Lol yeah it's impossible for me to leave the house and go anywhere without seeing several Porsches of various flavors. I've never seen a Lotus out on the road where I live. I have an Alfa Romeo and I see one maybe 3 or 4 times a year here, and we had a dealer before FCA pulled the dealership. I'm expecting my Emira will be the lone ranger around here for a long time.

Same happens to me here in dubai, on the road i just see maybe 1 lotus every 6 months, if i go to meetups cars obviously the things change

so knowing that to this region we are only getting 100 emira FE ... im very proud of this kind of uniqueness between this supercars jungle

I talked my best friend (who lives ~5 miles away) into putting down a deposit the day of the reveal with me. I'm surprised we're actually both following through and scheduled to take delivery around the same time, so there will be 2 V6 manual FE Emiras in my immediate area. Thankfully we agreed on different colors (Seneca & Magma)!

I chuckle when folks say not to compare things. I mean, competition is good for consumers and without comparison, how do we advance competitive advantages? Btw, Porsche don’t look old or boring; they have classic designs. It’s kind of like art: you stare at a painting that is hundreds of years old and it still looks great. If anything, it’s the Emira’s design that is starting to lose that modern/sexy appeal (because we, or I, have been staring at too many pictures and watched too many videos on it).

And… sports suspension with conti tour tires….who opts for that combo!?

(In my defense I’m expecting to take delivery in the middle of winter)

well, I see what you are saying, but for some, classic design, or music, or dance, or recipes, are boring of course (not for me as I myself am quite boring) its more in the case of the 718 that is has missed its mid season and indeed final revamp.... as you know at round about 4 years they update and at round about 2 years they retouch things. It is without doubt the current model they have with the least updates been given to it since it came out back in 2015 ish... and it will continue until 2023 you would imagine, thats 8 years, thats DOUBLE the normal design cycle!
I think the 718 still looks good, but it fades into the background with the Emira well out in front and I think 90% on here would agree, and as someone else said, thats why we are still on here in many cases.
THere are some shapes and designs that dont get old. I think the 992 911 wont ever get old, I think obviously a singer wont get old, an original mini, defender etc etc, but IMO the cayman and boxster, apart from maybe the spyder, have now got old. Yes we will always compare, but I and most of us are tired now, probably of everything, every failing from Lotus, but also of comparisons, natural or not to do so... and yes its very natural to do so, I wont make the same joke I made earlier as it seems other people can swear and use foul language without a word being said, but when I mention a chicken breast I am out of line haha

Same. I'm confident in my sport chassis w/Goodyears spec. Harry complained about the ride being rougher than he liked on sport chassis with the Cup2s. Tires make a BIG difference in ride quality and I've driven on Cup2s before. I'm sure it will be a bit more compliant and quieter with the Goodyear Eagle F1s. I'm scheduled to take delivery in November and we typically see below freezing temps and snow anywhere between December - March near me. Even if I was looking at a spring/summer delivery, I still would have speced the F1s for the performance versatility and tread life.

Once the electric sports cars start to come out, there's going to be a new design and styling language that will probably make ICE cars look like horse and buggies by comparison. The Emira is a pretty good looking way to end the ICE era I think.

Everybody would like to live in a world where a chicken can cross the road without having its motives questioned, but that's just the way it is. ;)
