I'll look into it just in case the woman fancies playing taxi, she has a JCW so would probably moan at a Cooper 🤣
There are so many lovely drives on the island but Sa Calobra and the Formentor drive out to the Lighthouse are superb 👌
Got to be early morning tho pre 8am I'd say.

@Matthaus
Check this out and I bet you manage to find a car from somewhere 😉
This vid also convinced me to buy the 981. Love and miss that noise! Bring on the Emira V6!!!

Thanks will check it out, we're staying in Alcudia but no where looks far I guess.

I see the lighthouse is close!

More than likely, if someone is mincing their words, its because (at least in my experience) they know how important a car can be to their audience, and especially the people who are financially invested in it. Its a case of striking the balance between being fair and honest, and ruining somebody's week.
I've observed exactly this. Not sure if the review was from you or savagegeese or Everyday Driver (maybe all 3), but I could sense harsh criticism coming on the C8's handling and wanted to hear it play out only to be disappointed by a more "politically correct" comment exercising restraint and damage control. "Let's say this instead to not piss off the majority of our viewership." I see mixed reviews about it feeling decently sharp and direct for having EPS to artificial and vague. It's one factor I'm considering vs Emira or potentially Z06 but still can't find consensus (nor one to test drive).

Gorgeous video, not just as a car driving video, but any video. I wish he'd listed the music used, I'd love to download it! I've tried identifying it with Shazam but it's not coming up correctly.

you see I cant get on with roa

you see I cant get on with roads that have blind curved / bends and narrow lanes.... Im not a "good" enough driver to enjoy them as there is no way Im going fast around a bend when I cant see whats on the other side and with jagged rocks on each side, I simply cant do it.
I know others do..... but when you can see whats around the other side and see the full panaroma, then thats fine :).

The views are great, but I guess he had someone further down the road telling him no one was coming the other way at certain points.
Anyway, there is a car thats kept its value, the 981 GTS, mainly as the next GTS was a 4 cyl until they were so awful that they changed back to 6 cyl.

I know this is a little off topic now! But everyone who's a car nut should go and drive this road 😁
90% of it is well sighted so it's all good. You need to go early in the morning as its full of cyclists and coaches after that until about 6.30pm. If coaches are ok I'm sure you will be 😋
If anyone goes park up at the bottom in the harbour (may see a super yacht or two if early) and then walk right until you find a cliff path that tunnels through the rocks to a 'secret' beach. Its like something from Jurassic Park. Nowhere will be open for coffee unfortunately, so back up whilst there is no traffic and you can hit up the Lluc monastery for breakfast

I wouldnt bet on it.. haha.
I live in catalunya and the lanes are so narrow compared to France for example and they just end, with rocks or trees or simply no tarmac..... In France there is a nice little safety margin.
Anyway, a boat over there and the Emira could find a new lease of life, if indeed it ever comes to life....

Thanks for the tips

I chuckle when folks say not to compare things. I mean, competition is good for consumers and without comparison, how do we advance competitive advantages? Btw, Porsche don’t look old or boring; they have classic designs. It’s kind of like art: you stare at a painting that is hundreds of years old and it still looks great. If anything, it’s the Emira’s design that is starting to lose that modern/sexy appeal (because we, or I, have been staring at too many pictures and watched too many videos on it).
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. To me, there have been some good looking Porsches, but the Cayman isn't one of them. I want a car that pulls my eyes every time I walk out to it, from more than one angle. The problem with the Cayman, IMO, is that the designers have to try hard to fit the same basic shape to different cars and the implantation on the Cayman is bland and boring. Also, the 4 dot headlight design looks really plain to me.

Again just my opinion. I have many good things to say about Porsche, but design is not one of them.

I'd settle for Harris summarising as:

"okay, it is not quite the overall build package of the Caymans, but close, and it is more fun and a hell of of a lot better looking. Overall, a great achievement by the small UK company and it can certainly be considered as the OTHER car"

I fear he will say:

"Lotus have made a decent effort. It falls short of its main rivals in many departments but it should have been lighter and more powerful"

Which will really piss me off as it is not THAT car. Get an Exige. This is a different concept aimed at different and it seems, to me, that only 25% of the people on the Lotus forums get this. I don't care what car is better at what, the Emira will be fantastic in most people's eyes once they actually drive it all the time.

This car, as it should be, is focussed on the masses, the new people to the brand like me.
Who want an easy car to drive, thats pleasant on the eye, has a motoring history background and who'd normally consider an Audi TT, Coxster, Supra etc
It doesn't have to excel in all areas just be good enough to be a viable alternative which it is, or maybe is in I4 format.

I think the truth of it is somewhere in between - ie. a more usable, better looking and dynamically slightly improved Evora is all they need to do and it's a hit with the existing enthusiast and new buyers. That has it's own appeal vs. a Cayman. But if instead it's blunted vs. the Evora and a dynamically a step back it's understandable there'll be disappointment with the enthusiasts.

Lotus may have calculated that this is fine if they are more interested in bringing new and more mainstream buyers into the brand. But we don't know because no-one has actually compared it to an Evora, other than saying the exhaust is quieter, which we understand is due to regs. That comparison would really tell us a lot. eg. Clearly its the same gearbox, no-one complains about that box on the Evora.

Expecting it to drive like an Exige is plain delusional, but I don't think that's what most are expecting.

I agree with this, I'm getting bored of looking at the Emira pictures online but then I went to the factory and OMG the Emira is truly one of the all time design great's

Really really special, the looks alone will make this car a massive hit trust me.

I think the Truth is that Emira is lightyears better than V6 Exige and Evora... both design/finish wise as well as driving dynamics.
