Emiras advertised for sale on other sites

Annoying ish but happens everywhere all day every day accross all markets.
My circumstances have changed also. Depending where I'm at when I get my checkout email I may flip mine, I may.. keep it, I may just cancel and not have the hassle of it anymore
BUT at the end of the day it's my decision 🤷

Completely agree. I am in the same boat. It's my deposit on my car, I can do what I like with it. People moaning about flipping cars didn't put their money down.....

This car has been for sale for over a week, nothing new here, its the central lotus car isnt it? Its on the other thread already....and has been mentioned several times.
There are 2 if not 3 cars for sale in the UK...they are just in different states of ready-ness.
One guy was not impressed and has left his car with the dealer to fix its issues and put it up for sale, this yellow one, and a blue one on a trade auction site, which will soon be for sale somewhere.
No one knows why people bought these cars, or people's circumstances and they waited a year or longer for their cars, not invite only, so why shouldn't they sell them. Maybe they are let down by the car, the CS experience, the overall experience..... and have a change of heart. People buy cheap houses to make a buck, why not with cars....
This is nothing like Porsches GT cars for the UK where you need to spend a fortune to get one, here its just a bit of intelligence, guess work and risk... good luck to them, none of you have to buy the car, wait for you own, at least you can get one by waiting, unlike porsches and ferraris.. where you have NO choice, but to spend well over the odds, here you dont have to... just waitttttttttt

The Central car is purely taking up real estate at Central as the seller hasn't got room for it.
It's the seller advertising it and selling it (just for info)

By the time ‘23 rolls around they’ll be enough buyers that bale that Lotus will be able to fulfill the smaller demand. Maybe they long for the old days? They just haven’t been able to climb to the next level they thought they could, at least so far.

thats nice of them...although its good for them to have the car for promotion also.
Im guessing IF they had a customer.... they would offer said car and get a commission, or maybe not..

Who knows :)
As an aside the yellow car seemed well finished. Better than the demo car.

10-12 % - still doubt that? I think Lotus realized this would happen early on and this is why you will see other parts of the world spreading out the allocations as not to over saturate any market.

I searched through a but and didn’t see it so I posted it, my bad

BTW, I don’t have a problem with it because as said, it’s not my car or Lotus’ car, it’s the person who bought it’s car and he/she/it can do whatever they want with it.

Do I think they will get asking price, no but I don’t fault them for trying.

id say 100k is a fair price for the moment... and by jan feb that will be down to 95 90......
lets see......

I love that it said it was a change of circumstances. Surely then don’t take delivery of an £80k car?!

I will say inquired about backing out, and was told I would not receive my deposit back. $10,000+ deposit down. So in my case my change of circumstances was wanting to get an Ariel Atom but not pissing $10k down the drain, so Im in it to win it, and if I dont like it, Ill sell it and get whatever tickles my fancy that month.

So this guy could have been in the same boat, just done with Lotus and wants to get rid of it.

SOOOOO I have news, maybe its already been mentioned elsewhere?

LOTUS DEALERS HAVE BEEN TOLD NOT TO GET INVOLVED IN RESALES for the moment!

This explains why the yellow car at lotus central is NOT for sale by lotus central and is only stored there.
This is to help residuals, although I am not sure it does as people will simply sell them at other none lotus locations instead, and this may in fact have the opposite effect, but at least it shows Lotus care.
I can also share, which may have been shared before, the local lotus dealer to you is the one that gets the commission for handing over the car, even if they dont hand over the car and you get it delivered at home.

Hence, IMO it is worth them receiving the car and doing a proper check over of it before you waste your time, and make sure it is perfect..in theory.... Avoiding the potential disappointment of having it delivered and then taking it to the dealer afterwards.

They literally are not allowed as part of their contract.
There is a 12 month clause I believe that stops them reselling them.
If Lotus were centrally controlling this stock I could understand it. BUT its all going to go through BCA surely, so what is the point of that!? Dealers have to tell customers they cant take PX to sell on but they can buy that PX back from BCA at a mark up and then sell on... 😵‍💫🤯
You as the customer would just take your Lotus down the road to the nearest specialist and get a better price from them. Meanwhile we have empty Lotus dealerships all around the country.....

yes..it seems the intention is good, but the solution is not good...
What they should do is try to control the price..... but not the method.... but thats not easy either...
Ok well this makes my life a little harder.....

It could be good for residuals, so could help you if dealers are having to buy at a higher price and then market at a higher price
It could also mean there isnt the interest and lots get sent to auction which i think would be bad..
A lot WILL end up at specialist dealers which will be a half way house and why I think we are looking at small overs on the Emira only first 3-6 months

Over in the US/CAN many manufacturers have been trying to curb the over MSRP issue. It dilutes the brand image and severely hurts customer experience. Customers that pay above MSRP price may end up loosing a lot more and in turn damaging Lotus' image. I know a few Porsche guys that supported the brand for well over 25 years and due to the mark-ups will never step foot in a Porsche dealer again. When all you do is sell to flippers instead of enthusiast, and the market crashes, all the enthusiast feel alienated and the flippers are gone because they can no longer make a buck.

GM for the C8 is removing the warranty if you sell the car within 1 year to also prevent this from happening. Other manufacturers reduce the allocations to dealers that markup new cars. However the dealer / manufacturer relationship is very different in the US, and it is difficult for the manufacturer to control what the dealer is doing.

Now with that said, Lotus can not control the used market. It is prudent of them to prevent anymore brand degradation that comes along with what can be seen as price gouging from the Lotus dealers/corporate.

IMO they are happy if the Emira sells for above MSRP, just as long it's not them /Lotus dealers doing it. (this goes for every manufacturer) This gives the Lotus dealer more trust / clout from customers, and will drive more customers into Lotus dealer showroom's as it deems them more trustworthy, fair and honest. I applaud them for it, Brand + Customer Relationship is more important than a few extra pounds. People listing Emira's for above MSRP with non Lotus dealers are helping Lotus and themselves to a couple bucks.

Well the £105k Emira has vanished from Autotrader so can only presume it’s sold…
