📓 Journals First Magma Emira collected from Hethel

This prefix is only usable in the Lotus Emira Journals forum.
Have a fantastic time! Look forward to the pics and write up.

It's a bright sunny day in Norfolk and we are now off to Hethel to collect the Emira - photos/videos later......
Really looking forward to seeing this spec! Lots of jealousy here!

Not long before we find out how many passers by thought Donskibeat was driving a brand new Ferrari dino. The spec is sublime I have to say.

So here is the story of my day. Strangely I had not been excited, not like I thought I would. There have been many comments and experiences along the way in the lead up to this moment, and even times when I have considered dropping out altogether. Lots of delays since my first deposit was made, some poor communication and stresses in the weeks leading up to it but I realised this was going to be my first ever sports car and today was finally the day, even better the weather was perfect. So those moments before finally leaving seemed to drag, and I thought now I am getting eager to get going.

As we drove up to the gates, we could already see the hustle and bustle around the site. Then my first sight of the beast, all covered up, with just a tiny glimpse of the wheels in sight. So, I tried not to look too much at this stage and be patient. First on the agenda however was a bit of lunch to settle us in. Time to talk with Scott about the history of Lotus, where his passion and great knowledge of the firm, its cars, and his own personal pride in delivering a truly worthwhile customer experience is clearly on display.

Next a factory tour, which gives you a great understanding of exactly how your car is built, and how all the components individually work and come together. Scott is just a walking encyclopaedia of what seems every single part, and history of how everything has developed overtime. It is just fascinating to hear him talk and he can honestly answer any question you raise without hesitation and in great depth. It was also a pleasure to walk round the factory and have people greet you and smile, and were really interested to hear about your car, especially when it turns out this was going to be the first Magma to have been collected. So that whole experience in itself was very interesting. We were also lucky to time it just right to see the Evija pass by us not once but twice. I still find it hard to believe how powerful it is but just passes us by with no sound or engine noise but still a pleasure to be that close.

With the tour done it was time for the big reveal, a lot of excitement building now and finally the nerves and apprehension of the journey I had been on started to drift away as the brilliant Magma paint started to shimmer in the sunlight breaking through across the showroom. I knew I had made all the right choices, alloys, paint colour, callipers they just all worked. If you are still in the consideration stage then definitely do not get the same colour callipers as your car as it just doesn’t work, get different colour callipers that’s for sure. Yellow callipers and magma paint just worked for me, phew I had got that one right.

I had to stand back as it was hard to take it all in to be honest. I have been lucky to have some nice cars along the way, but just nothing like this, it just looked a beast, awesome, a true sports car.

Once I had a chance to take it all in, we went through all the basics and there will be much more for me to go over but the interior in terms of in car entertainment and controls seem very intuitive much easier than my Audi which was very over complicated. Also, something which has been mentioned previously before re the heated seats it really isn’t that complicated to get to the controls for them, other settings just seem obvious where you will find them. Also, easy to quickly mute and get to sound volume controls and such things, but as I say more to explore yet.

After a quick purchase in the shop, it was time to take the beast out into the sunlight to get a few more shots and my goodness did he look stunning. The red paint truly pops in the sunlight, and I was in awe, this will be a car that looks different as the light fades and in every angle during the day. I feel I made the right choice there, even Lotus staff were coming over to take another look.

So, the big moment. In my head my thoughts were do not stall this, do not STALL this. Big news I didn’t, a proud moment. So, seat belt on, and yes although it appears twisted it fits just perfectly. Something again I had an issue within the Audi as my first experience in that was it just constantly slipped off my shoulder. Ok we have a good start here, seat belt works, my legs reach the pedals, I haven’t stalled – perfect start. Then you hear the engine, and you wave goodbye to Scott and Sam this is the moment the first sports car moment and yes, it is worth it. The drive home although taking it easy you can sense there is much more to this car. You can enjoy it driving slowly and still get the experience of a beautiful engine note, you can blip the throttle and hear it a little more, I already started to feel this is good, I like it. I love the gear box it makes the car feel it has a race pedigree.

Overall, I cannot praise Scott and Sam more. They really went above and beyond to make the day special, and the knowledge and pride in the brand that Scott has is just remarkable. Yes, it has been a journey and Lotus has still some things to learn on the communication front, but the car itself is good, very good and I look forward to exploring more. It is definitely ideal for your first sports car; it has got the looks and the feel of something very special. It makes you feel very proud to be the owner. Already the few people that have seen it not even liking cars have said that is stunning. I can’t wait to drive this more.

Incredible photos. Those in batch 3/3 are the best pictures I have ever seen of Magma.
