Oh, for me no doubt, V6 manual. Sound and engagement can't be replaced. I'd get an auto for a daily driver, but I like my week end cars manual. No for engine. But that was my next question. I was very late number 43 on list and was thinking i4 engine but now thinkingv6
I was really hoping that it wouldn't go over CDN $120,000.00. There will be the new luxury tax on cars over 100 grand the first of the year, plus delivery, plus HST puts it pretty close to 150 grand.... think that would put me out....Hello fellow Canadian Lotus enthusiasts
It has been difficult to get "real" information specific to the Canadian market. The UK and US seem to be much farther ahead with regards to pricing and details. I did just have a brief conversation with Gentry Lane in Toronto and they told me the V6 First Edition manual will be priced at $125,000 - but no details on exactly what specification that would have or what options are available and what they might cost. They didn't seem to know about when orders would need to be finalized or even whether all deposit holders would be able to get the First Edition. Not much of an update but considering how little info their seems to be on Canadian orders I thought I would share what I was told.
Hopefully there will be much more info coming
Gentlemen, nice to meet you all, I also just heard from John at Gentry Lane in Toronto and was told it'll be unofficially in the $125k ballpark... so let's see where we end up, after taxes, luxury tax, freight/pdi etc we're crossing $150k easy so might have to pass, #40 with my deposit at GentryI was really hoping that it wouldn't go over CDN $120,000.00. I agree and most likely in the same boat. I thought all in (including luxury tax, HST, freight, etc) we were going to end up around $120k. If we are up to $150k, I too will be out. I’ll probably end up going for a Porsche instead or wait to build my own Emira in a year or two for less money (since I don’t need all their options).Gentlemen, nice to meet you all, I also just heard from John at Gentry Lane in Toronto and was told it'll be unofficially in the $125k ballpark... so let's see where we end up, after taxes, luxury tax, freight/pdi etc we're crossing $150k easy so might have to pass, #40 with my deposit at Gentry
In Australia we have pricing for the FE V6 at an eye watering $190,000 with extra options $200,000 drive away…. No JokeI agree and most likely in the same boat. But pricing it at $150k in Canada is kinda ludicrous. They will lose a lot of early deposits and potential clients. I guess they are not worried since they will have enough in England, etc.
My guess is that the dealer took the price announced in the UK and converted it to CAD, that gives roughly 125k.This is crazy considering I can get a used Lamborghini for 200000 which is much more than a v6. Not sure they will sell many at over a 150000.00
Keep the GT4 and get the Emira. The GT4 is a nice comparison price wise, but I already own one, so it's not really an option for me haha
I think the Emira will have it's own charm over the GT4.Keep the GT4 and get the Emira.
One of the best combo a man could dream.
The GT4 is the hardcore spicier version and the Emira is not there yet. No rear wing, no front splitter, no carbon fiber, no race seat for the Emira. The GT4 is a little step over the Emira version that we will get first. The Emira FE V6 well equipped should not be priced higher then a well equipped Cayman GTS 4.0 .
Emira will be a special road car, GT4 is a special track car. Emira should be bench tested against a 4.0 GTS, performance figures are very similar, but as a road car the charger in the Emira will give the car a push where you'd have to really drive the 4.0 GTS. As a road car you don't want to really drive the car hard all the time, hence Emira wins, IF the steering is special, this is the unknown. A GT will no doubt be produced and put up against the GT4, but where the 4.0 in the GTS has room, the v6 not so much. May not be an issue if Porsche continue to slowly up the power of the GT4 over the next iteration or 2. Here in the UK EV sports cars will take over the performance specs of these 2 vehicles in the next 5-8 years in any case.I think the Emira will have it's own charm over the GT4.
To me the biggest shortcoming of the Emira is the fact they don't offer proper bucket seats like the GT4, that's one of the features I love most about my GT4.
- While the GT4 is a very beautyful car, I think the emira will have the edge.
- Emira has hydrolic steering, even though the GT4 steering is great, I think there is always something special about hydrolic steering.
- Emira has exposed engine which gives a sporty feel and sens of occasion. That also allows to see it from the rear view mirror
- The shift feel in a lotus is something special, feels way more mechanical that the GT4
- The supercharged engive must have much more low end torque than the GT4's, which allows better enjoyment on the roads. GT4 needs to be constantly above 5000rpm, that paired with the long gearing of the transmission takes you to "lose your driving liscence" speeds very quickly.
