Mine is a 2024 I4 and is somewhat slow on shifting. I also noticed when i shift from one drive mode to another, it sometimes initially gets stuck in gear and rpm escalates way up to max before changing gears. I also have delays in shifting reverse.
My i4 is also a 2024-build, most probably it was manufactured in May of that year. After many delays I received it where I live (in Tokyo) early October 2024. I did have problems with reverse, and the overall operation of the DCT gearbox was less than optimal. However about a month or month and a half later (late November or early December) my car was updated with a major firmware (software) update, and from then on everything regarding the DCT gearbox felt “normal” including shifting between forward gear and reverse and vice versa. My car just had its 6 months service, and the mileage is 4000 km / 2500 miles. I also feel that the running in (and a few oil changes) has made everything, including the DCT gearbox smoother.
I am also in the process of purchasing the JQ Werks paddles from Greg’s Racing Parts, and this is expected to further improve the tactile feeling of operating the gearbox. I will be able to report more after I receive and have it installed.
In your case, I would recommend that you make sure that your car receive all the available firmware ./ software updates, and also that you get an oil change (make sure it gets filled all the way up - a full 6 liters - I am sorry I am only able to refer to the metric units;-)
I hope that your car will continue to improve the way my own car has developed.
Right now I am a bit concerned about fake engine sound being pumped in via the car audio system. This is something I would like to get rid of. Take a look at another active thread herein dealing with this matter.
Enjoy your 4-cylinder Emira. It is a great car, as far as my own experience is concerned, and I hope that you also will get to this point where it is a joy every time you go for a drive.
