I4 (AMG-2.0 Turbo) DCT gearbox software update from LOTUS - mid August 2024

There is a software update that seems to have been released by Lotus for the gear shifting algorithm of the Emira AMG-2.0 Turbo. This may improve the perceived delays when using the flappy pedals, and it is said to even improve going from forward motion into reverse. It will be interesting to hear from owners, that gets this installed, about the extent and subjective feel of this update.

Did the dealership offer this update? What year is your Emira?Mine is a 2024 I4 and is somewhat slow on shifting. I also noticed when i shift from one drive mode to another, it sometimes initially gets stuck in gear and rpm escalates way up to max before changing gears. I also have delays in shifting reverse.
That sounds like the old software. When was the last time you took the car in for some work at a dealership? They should have applied all the available updates at that time.
If your last visit was post September 2024, I would call the dealership and have them check. They WILL have a log of what was uploaded to the car. If they missed it, get it installed, if they have installed, take it back and tell them you still have issues, it should not be like that at all

My i4 is also a 2024-build, most probably it was manufactured in May of that year. After many delays I received it where I live (in Tokyo) early October 2024. I did have problems with reverse, and the overall operation of the DCT gearbox was less than optimal. However about a month or month and a half later (late November or early December) my car was updated with a major firmware (software) update, and from then on everything regarding the DCT gearbox felt “normal” including shifting between forward gear and reverse and vice versa. My car just had its 6 months service, and the mileage is 4000 km / 2500 miles. I also feel that the running in (and a few oil changes) has made everything, including the DCT gearbox smoother.

I am also in the process of purchasing the JQ Werks paddles from Greg’s Racing Parts, and this is expected to further improve the tactile feeling of operating the gearbox. I will be able to report more after I receive and have it installed.

In your case, I would recommend that you make sure that your car receive all the available firmware ./ software updates, and also that you get an oil change (make sure it gets filled all the way up - a full 6 liters - I am sorry I am only able to refer to the metric units;-)

I hope that your car will continue to improve the way my own car has developed.

Right now I am a bit concerned about fake engine sound being pumped in via the car audio system. This is something I would like to get rid of. Take a look at another active thread herein dealing with this matter.

Enjoy your 4-cylinder Emira. It is a great car, as far as my own experience is concerned, and I hope that you also will get to this point where it is a joy every time you go for a drive.
