i4 dct slow gear shifting

It looks like the gear shifting at 09:55 is pretty slow. Anyone has an i4 to share their experience?

Its not PDK fast, but it isn't too slow. Switch it out for a magnetic paddle shifter helps a lot.

Just picked up my Turbo. On the 150 mile drive home, had an opportunity to manually upshift and downshift many times.

There isn't any noticeable lag- it's split second. Paddle contacts are crisp and feel solid.

They must have reworked DTC control mapping in the latest version and maybe the paddles contacts ....

Didn't lay into it too much.
But my overall impression is the car sharp, even in tour mode it feels ready go. The shifting concerns are nonsense, unless your last name is Schumacher.
Engine noise is clearly piped into cabin and actually decent when over 3k, was surprised how loud it gets.
Only hit 90 mph a couple of times and car felt planted and steering was precise at all speeds today.
Brakes are strong and even, easily bring the car speeds down quickly. Almost zero play in the pedal.


Only two minor issues so far-
Vibrating rear view mirror
No blind spot detection, really need to trust those mirrors in traffic. ( didn't like that)

You will enjoy this car, no question in my mind.

I thought the i4 have all the driver assistance (blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise, etc.) cus I've seen them in the owner's manual.

Thank you ! The salesman must have disable when setting up the car today. Blind spot detection should be an always enabled feature.

Interesting. Would you be able to do a short clip shifting up and down via paddles?

I did a test drive 9th of October. Car was quite new I suppose, probably mid 2024 delivery. Loved the car, but the slow transmission was a K.O. Manual upshifts were slower than in non DCT cars and downshifts were delayed even more. I know how to shift DCTs and drove a few. The Emira transmission disappointed me. I watched a video of an A45S after the test drive of the Emira which was showing that the issue can’t be the transmission because it was very fast. So I also thought about software..

I see you're from Germany? European cars have 360hp and no DCT re calibration as of your build. CEO of Lotus North America was adamant about US cars getting 400hp and DCT tune.

Yes Germany. We will get the Turbo SE with 400hp in Europe next year. But no news about DCT changes yet (asked the dealer about it). But @Emira Fan has probably got his still with 360hp and I was interested if they changed something to make the DCT quicker. Or are 400hp i4s being already delivered in the US?

Also setting both side view mirrors appropriately, essentially eliminates blind spot......

There is definitely a fix that brings manual shifts in line with other DCT cars (eg. Audi & BMW). If you also noticed a pronounced delay between reverse, neutral and drive then the car you drove does not have the latest software updates applied.

For the long legged amongst us, the seats have to go so far back, that the drivers side mirror does not twist far enough out to cover wide enough. My view is about 1/3rd rear wing.
I have asked Lotus if anything can be done to move the mirror to see further out, but so far nothing
