Christ Andrew, not only have you ordered the exact same V6FE in Seneca as myself, your last car was a Maserati GT, as was mine. I sold mine a few months ago as it was rising in value something Maseratis' never do.
Personally, i cant wait to get my first Lotus, undoubtedly one of the most stunning cars produced since the 458. However, im not sure it will have the sense of theatre and occasion as the Maser despite it being very dated. Italian cars are exotic beings, Lotus not so much.
Waiting to see what the 2022 Maser GT looks like later in the year. Possibly switch the Lotus for that, albeit i will wait at least a year post release due to depreciation. Problem with Masers are that typically they lose 97% of their value within 30 seconds of leaving the delaership.......
HI.... yes we came out the Maserati a little better off..... I two have been hoping to see what the new one is going to look like.....

Think for a few years the EMIRA will be a good place to have your money.... yes ist a stinning looking car.... and at half what any thing else with such good looks.... Sure you will have seen I mentioned the 12c as something I looked into.... honest if you have not driven one... try it.... felt so at ease in seconds.... did dont feel its size..... the power so in comtrol.

Going to be interesting few month..... think interest rates going up, might slow price increas on older cars. Have been looking at Merc E53.... face lift.... Coupe.... nice GT car..... New one is in my price range, repayments..... 18 month old... even with 15k deposit, repayments are more than buying a new one..... but new 18 months ?

I currently already have the "what" I want for now.

But eager to have the Emira as its replacement. :)

I was originally told the Emira would be available autumn 2022 for the l4 but when it got pushed back I looked for something else - and the only useable sports car that fitted the bill was I guess the Emira’s biggest opposition in the 4.0 Cayman. I think the GTS looks a little too samey to the regular S so the only other option would be a GT4 - especially if pdk was your preferred route. Trouble is they are fetching £15k ish above list and OPC s need buying history or join a long list…….

Anyone know if Porsche honour place in deposit queue like Lotus (uk) do or would a potential buyer get “bumped” back if a better/regular customer was to pop up with a request to place a deposit.?

Also looked at 540/570 mclaren and especially liked the 570GT as Emira ish cabin storage and better profile in my opinion. Good 2018 were available for £85k until covided - I was put off by potential repair costs (appreciate Thorney Motorsport warranty option) but £20k gearbox rebuild if you got a bad one (apparently not mileage related) but checking a vent hole in with your fingers crossed is not my idea of fun.

Emira offers -
Unbelievable looks (could be equal too twice the price )
Great drive (by default)
Useable interior and boot
Improved quality
Enough pace but with plenty involvement
Warranty
Promise of decent residuals

I think it will be hard to find a better option

totally agree on your Emira analysis. Also your views on the Mclarens, no way i would risk it. Also heard about £30k engine replacements and £20K engine rebuilds. Mclaren have you by the balls with no real independants to fall back on

Thanks for your support - its not even a mclaren engine but built by Ricardo I believe - even more long term support/spares development issues ….

Thorney do an end to end waranty for MP4-12C..... they not as bad as you may think.... I looked into... most had any issues fixed..... very few engines in truth had issues.... A little like IMS Bearing on Porsche..... thin that came down to less than 1%..... but as it was bad news. press made more of it :)

Yes Thorney warranty was about £2800 per year I think that’s for Mp12c and 5 and 7 series cars as all had same engine/box. Still don’t think they look as good as the Emira - tbh I don’t think anything does!

Nope....... nothing does look as good as the EMIRA...... But the MP4-12C has its merits :)

Definitely keep the house and if you can get an Emira on finance. I can sympathise with your situation.
I hate finance... but if it looks like residuals will offset the interest a bit then defo still an option. Can't let you have the only Nimbus Emira within a 10 mile radius 😉😅

Some of you already know I have already moved forward on another car as I wait for an Emira. I'm hoping 2024 will open up new colors, etc. I had bought a '20 Mini Cooper S thinking it could tide me over and I do love it, but I needed something more. I still have the Mini tho 😁
I had a '22 Jag F-Type on order, but after being on the forums for a few months and seeing some dumb problems people were having with these new cars, I decided spending over $120k (with tax)on a car I planned to keep 2 years was idiotic at best, especially with Jag's unknown future and the horrible depreciation.

There isn't much that excites me anymore, honestly. Except cars that are way over my price range (someday Ferrari...sigh). I would have gone back to Porsche in a second if they weren't so outrageously inflated.
So...I went another direction and got a low mileage C7 Z06 in a manual. I loved my Grand Sport and always regretted trading it for my M2. C7's are stupidly overpriced as well. But it's just what the market is. Hoping the market holds for a while.

I had a 2015 Jag F-Type V8S Convertible - amazing car and hate that I parted with it. I purchased it used - so didn't take the initial depreciation hit, but it still dropped in value rather quickly. It was my daily driver for 3 years and I absolutely loved it. If my FE V6 doesn't happen this year - I'll probably go get another one.

F type used depreciation - had a 2015 v6S lost 10k in 14 months on top spec ouch. Had Exige for 5 years and lost 3k - here’s hoping the Emira is more like the latter....

More of a left field choice for me, during 'the wait' I still find myself looking at one of these. Proper bucket list purchase. Same price as a base Emira and using the best man maths, that's a saving on the FE.

Bit less practical admittedly. But oh the sound!

Lol , with inflation rising there won’t be any depreciation on the Emira FE.

But the question is, when will we find out if it will happen this year?! We are all currently on a best guesstimate from people on this forum. Nothing from Lotus. If they get a second shift going, the expectations may dramatically change and leave you in a position of having to get out of whatever you have bought at the wrong time of year perhaps.

So, Ok…. We are all waiting and hoping we will get or cars,

lots of hope for sometime before Christmas 2022, some lucky people have a delivery date, and I am sure counting the days.

But between some of us getting a date, there are a lot of variables that could change. The car price could go up, interest rates I am sure, will go up,

The cost of living has and is going to continue on an upward trend….

All of this for some people meaning the car could become hard for them to afford or even run, Insurances seem to go up, no matter how well you drive or how many years NCD

So, if not the EMIRA what….

I have been looking…. Porsche Cayman GTS 4.0L…. E53 Merc, Jag….?

None of them look as good, when driving them they all seem soul less….

The last car I drove that made me smile every time driving it was my Maserati Gran T…. but even the face lift ones are dated, they stopped making the car 3 years ago

Options Please !!!!!!
My hitlist leading up to the Emira:
CAYMAN 987 S
MASERATI GT MC SHIFT
PORSCHE CAYENNE MERDAD
ASTON MARTIN VANTAGE V8
PORSCHE CAYMAN 981
BMW I8 ..... Seriously try one.

Next logical step was the mclaren, although I've already wanted a Ferrari, but realistically it's always going to be the Emira,it's got everything I want .

If the worst was to happen to make me change my mind, I'd probably go for a Boxster Spyder or GT4
